It was a rushed production and effects were literally not even finished until the premiere.
So of course that shows in the final product.

The Directors Edition re-compositing of all the original effect shots in cases where they could find the original raw footage is a gift of the movie god!
I just wish they would have found all the raw footage. For example the klingon stuff at the beginning is still the final composited work from 1979.
The restoration team told in podcasts that they only could recomposit if all elements were available and that they couldnt find everything.
That they found most of the scotty/kirk Flyby stuff is a miracle! That whole scene look so much better than it has before..so much more clarity and sharpness.

What they should have done for the new branched Disc with Theatrical/SLV is correct the couple of shots that were butchered for the 2021 release.
Very good points. Since the SLV is supposed to be the 1979 version, only with the extended footage, it's appropriate that it's the originally composited shots, even though the new DC re-composited shots would have indeed looked better. In fact, it's usually my preferred treatment of a theatrical edition, to use the original effects footage, not doctored in any way. So in that respect, it's the best way to go for purists, in terms of the effects footage anyways.

If they had bothered to have gone back and corrected those couple shots that were done for the 2021 release, it would have been more tempting for me. That, and better packaging.

So I still don't have a shipping email from Movies Unlimited on my individuals. TCA box has a tracking number but still hasn't been given to the post office. As I said, I'm not in a super mad rush for these, and the price was undeniably great...but it *does* grate on me that these places can't even put things in the MAIL on street date. I don't even so much care if it takes another week for me to get them, but street dates have just become this loose guideline for online retailers. It's like "you'll get it...within two weeks or so of this date". Really obnoxious, I must say - especially when they CHARGED me for the individuals on Saturday before the holiday, so I had been expecting them to ship yesterday.

I put a pre order in the day it went live. Mine says it will be delivered by Saturday and it's on Prime next day delivery. This is the first time for me as well I not seen movement on an order. I might put a complaint in.

Last month, the same time I pre-ordered II and III.

II was just delivered. III is in the mail. TMP still shows nothing and Amazon itself clearly has no more copies. Not pleased. I am thinking they underestimated stock needed and Ill be waiting a very long time. It's sold out everywhere.

Don’t forget about the postal strikes in the UK, their work to rule will be causing major backlogs everywhere.

Amazon has always been terrible on pre-orders. Often not dispatching until release day, sometimes two or three days after release if the stories are to be believed. Their old trick was dropping the price 24hrs after dispatch on pre-orders until people started claiming the difference back. They have no customer loyalty.

Amazon are supposed to have a free Prime month extension when a delivery date is missed (I think I have that right) but I don’t see it lasting long as it will cost them too much.

I am surprised people still use Amazon unless absolutely necessary and I don’t ever see a time where it is. Think I’d rather risk eBay

I canceled my Amazon order and ordered it from Walmart with a delivery date of this Friday.

Wow, just checked back on their site and it’s no longer listed as available.

What a joke re. the German release.
Here's also a photo of the madness (taken with the phone without any care - it's only about the German menu):

Oh, other than that, of course amazon just isn't capable of delivering stuff like that in mint condition, but by amazon standards I consider myself lucky - some creases at the bottom (the black spine I mean) and some very minor ones, which are very well hidden, at the spine of the slipcase. The rest is mint.
Because I had problems like that before with shipments from amazon.co.uk to Germany I had them gift wrap my complete edition, which was the right decision: My wraped complete edition has arrived today in pristine condition, the slipcovers of the single releases of V and VI, which were in the same package but not gift wraped, are messed ob at the edges unfortunately.

To be fair, we WERE warned that this would be the case with TCA pretty early on, and many of us were criticized for being hyperbolic or just buying into FOMO nonsense.

They've stopped offering free Prime extensions quite a while back, pre-pandemic. They used to offer me those extensions because they were often late, but they no longer offer that. Now I get emails when things are late (often) telling me if it's not here within a certain time period, then I can contact them for a refund. It usually arrives within the next couple days, so it's late by a few days, but I never get any compensation for it arriving past the promised date.

I let them know they left it out and it should now arrive Friday. They hustled, promised it would be sent in a box of some sort and not a bubble mailer, and they did say they would try to make sure it includes the slip.
It's annoying but they're handling the situation as well as any retailer could.

Well, so did I. Did it help? Nope. Because the morons put the wrapped edition into the usual cardboard envelope anyway, instead of using a freaking box.

EDIT: I also intend to ask for a refund - I at least want to get the gift wrap fees back.
EDIT2: And 5.94 GBP it is, which is really only fair.

I use Amazon because of customs. They charge VAT and deals with Finnish customs for me. If I had to clear my orders myself with the Finnish custom officials, I probably would finish my hobby and stopped ordering outside of European Union (which means no orders from US or UK anymore). So for me Amazon is quite necessary. If there are other sellers online that are in IOSS (Import One-Stop-Shop), I'd be glad to hear about them. For instance I had to stop ordering CDs from Screen Archive Entertainment, because they weren't in IOSS. Luckily I found another soundtrack dealer from France with reasonable prices compared to Amazon's.

I'm not trying to bust your hump, but what are you seeing that's causing you to conclude that it's sold out everywhere?

I've looked right now and it's available for online orders from - Bull Moose, DeepDiscount, and Movies Unlimited.

Best Buy isn't allowing online orders, but looking at the copies available in my area I haven't seen any change in the quantities available since this time yesterday.

Even Amazon has it back up at their discounted price through a 3rd party vender...if you want to roll the dice on that.

I'm not trying to be argumentative, it's just that people keep repeating that it's selling out but unless you put all your eggs in the Amazon basket I'm just not seeing the evidence of that.

Its totally fooked up what Paramount Germany did.
They could at least put this Disc in the big set even if they should offer the cut with the existing (!) dubbing.
But at least put the OmU Disc in there.....

Noob Trekkie here. So make sure I understand all of the releases:

This (no theatrical?)

is included in this. The difference is the Theatrical, SLV, and swag. Correct?

And this:

includes all of the new individual releases? So I would only need this one if I didn't need the SLV? With the DEs from I, II, and VI included, I think I can live without the SLV.

Ignore what I previously posted.

YES, the 6-film set will give you everything except the Special Longer Version of TMP
