There are far too many changes and tweaks to The Motion Picture Directors Edition to present both cuts on a single disc like they did with TWoK and TUC.

If you want all three cuts of TMP on UHD, the theatrical and Directors Edition on Blu-ray and the bonus features disc in a single set then import the U.K. Complete Adventures set.

I had to laugh when I saw the graph with bars, I yelled out ‘nominal’ and sure enough, up it popped. They re-used that one for the Excelsior’s readouts in Search for Spock.

The "Intruder Alert" graphic is used in "Khan" when Kirk orders yellow alert and Saavik says, "Energize defense fields."

And...you don't have to buy TMP twice. You could get the Complete Adventure set (all three cuts) and then buy the rest of the Trek films individually, that's what I did...but I liked the separate cover art, etc. for each title, too...and I didn't buy the previous 4-film box set. Unless you want a Blu-ray of TMP Theatrical, yes...then it might require a small double dip!

Thanks! All of the Trek 4Ks had a 30% off promo sticker on them. The TMP Directors Edition also marked down 20% online. The cashier made sure I got the correct mark down, though.

not sure if anyone noticed it yet, idk if it's necessarily a source issue or if it's a bad encode in the one spot

but for some reason, whenever the giant light bolt sequence happened in the DE 4K, it looked like it became a big blocky mess (the theatrical cut may have had inferior elements for the scene but at least looked much better encoded)

The box my copy was shipped it (from Movies Unlimited) was crushed but thankfully the contents were not damaged because they used an oversized box with enough air pillows. Still, I expected the worst because the box was sitting at the bottom of four mail buckets with a bunch of magazines piled on top. Bit of minor miracle it wasn't damaged, really.

The packaging of this set is MUCH smaller than I imagined. Good thing, I guess, but it's still an awkward design in terms of display choices. I have very limited space to display it face forward, which I prefer, and it doesn't fit on the shelf with just the spine showing due to the length. First world problems

I really wish they would find another way to hold the discs other than these tight pockets. The discs are a real b**ch to remove without marking the discs in some way. Thankfully the scuffs remove easily with a microfiber cloth but still. What a pain in the ass.

Bummed about how these display graphics are presented. The way the subtitles identify the montage over the display graphics themselves comes off more like a watermark to prevent anyone from using it. I wanted to see these graphics in the raw like the Alien Anthology set did with their in-movie screen graphics.

I put all five discs into a UHD case with the remastered theatrical BD cover and slip. They are never, ever getting put into those sleeves again.

basically in a nutshell if I even consider getting complete boxset anywhere order online again only place has it Walmart as of now boxset going to get crushed eh

I had an issue with amazon last month over charmed complete series boxset bluray the top of the flap little torn bottom was torn very badly despite the bluray cases all 8 seasons and bluray was working good

they wanted return refund but no free replacement thus I kept boxset put tape on which is torn instead throwing boxset away keeping the bluray cases in it

doesn't look bad at all unless you take a bluray case out of boxset then you see torn despite tape a litle bit i'm just going to put boxset on top of other bluray boxsets/dvd boxset I got on my entertainment center nobody won't notice anyways

if I wanted the original version of the director's edition, which was on DVD - was this the only version of the film released on the format? just looked at dvdcompare and it looks like all the editions they have are all only this version. The US release is two discs - so one is just extras, and not two cuts of the film? we're all these carried over to the new BDs?


Figure if I want the complete package, this isn't complete without that 2000s version of the film.
