Cobra Kai is the property of Sony Pictures, not Netflix, so it’s likely that all of the season of the show will be released on Blu-Ray.

I’ve watched all 10 episodes of Cobra Kai season 5, if it’s not renewed for a 6th season, it won’t be a big deal, because season 5 does close the main aspects of the story, it could very easily be left there, and it would be a fine ending to the show.

To date, every season of The Walking Dead has been released on BD.

If you and others that share this way of thinking were buying the seasons of TV series that are available on Blu-Ray that you like though, it would reflect in sales figures that there is a higher interest in them being released on Blu-Ray, so the studios would have more of an incentive to release the remaining seasons on the format.

Going forward it will be for films released on BD/4K too.

Neither do people that choose to pay for streaming services instead of buying discs.
You miss a simple point, up until 2 years ago I WAS buying tv on Blu-Ray. It made diddly squat difference to AHS switching to streaming.

I also like reading about films and it’s hard to avoid spoilers if you wait too long.

I also follow my heart, the majority of my spare income goes on discs, which I love watching. That’s following your heart. But you also have to be sensible.
I generally have a list of films which I pursue on disc. I don’t just click when I feel the urge.

I disagree that it does diddly squat, but forget that for the moment though, what I’m focused on is that I didn’t say only you, I said you and others. I’ve seen your way of thinking on the subject posted about for way more than 2 years.

Some people won’t commit to buying any seasons of TV shows until they know that the entire series will be released on the format. There is no denying that this has contributed to negatively decreasing the amount of TV series and individual seasons from later in a series from being released on the format. This type of Blu-Ray collector is affecting the sales figures and are making some shows appear not as popular on the format by waiting, which means they’re directly responsible for the decline, and 2 years ago when you decided to stop, you joined them. You don’t all worked together as collectors to achieve a common goal, so the result is less TV shows being released on Blu-Ray.

I also agree with PeguinInfinity about supporting the format as much as you can if you’re an enthusiast. I don’t have self proclaimed OCD where I need completion otherwise I suffer anxiety, like some Blu-Ray collectors say they do. Yes, I’d prefer for every season of a TV series to be released on BD, but if they’re not, I’m still happy to support the format by purchasing every season that is. For any season that isn’t released on BD, I’m happy to download or stream the remaining seasons, if they’re not ever released on BD. That’s at least me doing my part to support the Blu-Ray format as much as I can.

The reason they waited until the entire collection dropped was that they had been burned in the past. Plus, even when Blu-Ray launched, tv series were going straight to DVD.
It often comes down to budget and DVD is cheaper to put out.

I don’t need a lecture on supporting the format, I have spent over 50,000 on Blu-Ray and UHD up to this point.

don't know about the one you have but yes it is a chore to give it a good clean. But that also depends on how much of a neat freak you are. I give it a small wipe * after every ** use and just give it a good cleaning (taking the pot off.... ) every few times.

* I use a soapy cloth to clean the sides and put it in the pot and hook it on the rotator arm and turn on the rotation and then with a wet one and dry one. Not a big deal

agree with you on that, people should watch a a show for the hours of enjoyment it gives you not for the last 5 minutes that might or might not be good.

I do keep track (put them on my unwatched shelf)
but I don't care when I see them , I will see it when it is the right time to see it and I don't care when that will be.

I do it because
a) unless I go to see a particular film or I know I don't have what I feel like in my unwatched, it makes it an easy first check.

b) it might not appear that way on here, but I am a frugal person by nature, so knowing that I have seen the film proves that the money was well spent. back before I started an "un-watched" shelf movies were sometimes lost in the shuffle.

Owning a title that I want is the only justification needed for its purchase. I see zero value in doing your peculiar cost/benefit analysis.

100% agree, life has more than enough aggravations without artificially adding others.

In almost all aspects of my life, I can be described as frugal.

Every piece of equipment in my HT has been purchased, second hand, refurbished, open boxed or on close out....

The 2 things I don't skimp on are software and food... in that order now that my cholesterol level would be lethal for an elephant... LOL..

I don't generally buy TV based programming as there is more than enough to watch on all the streaming services and full cable package I pay for...

My son pretty much does all the ordering of movies now as he is online all the time and he is REALLY cheap so I know I'm getting the best deal at the time of release if not a few weeks later. He's a PC gamer who almost never buys anything on release... Me ...I want everything as soon as it's available in decent quality... thus the move towards more streaming presentations and fewer physical purchases if I deam the movie to not be worthy of repeat viewing.

I actually randomly picked up the UHD of THE FUNHOUSE a couple of days ago as I found myself at an old haunt close to the University of Toronto campus while waiting to meet up with my daughter for lunch.

I hadn't seen it since renting it on VHS in my teens...It looked and sounded amazing on my setup in glorious wide-screen and full surround sound...

Legacy equipment is a blessing. It's how I got into 4K / Atmos in such a short time.

Well $50K for BD is a big number, but spread out over years probably not that bad. If your Disc count is correct then your Average BD is about $60, bring it up to 2000 for BD the price goes to $25. According to the Revenue Report Average BD is up to $23, so I would say you are supporting Disc. The question is it really worth it? The Collectors will say yes, but at what price for that perceived Quality. I'm talking about everything for that High End Home Theater!

My count is not accurate. Nowhere near. I need to update.

Worth it? Every penny, yes. World of difference between owning on disc and streaming.

50 thousand on blu ray sounds pretty high as that would work out to 3125 dollars a year on average on blu ray and uhd. The early years also had relatively little content so that would mean you would need to spend like 4000 or 5000 a year in later years to get up to 50k a year.

50 thousand on Blu and UHD. As of December, I will have spent around £5,500 just this year including pre orders that I presume will stick to their release date. For example, I spent £800 just on one label.

I went a bit crazy with 4K discs this year and last also. My spend last year was a little higher at around £6,000.

I must say though, I never go over my budget for the year, even if I sometimes flirt with doing so.

I know people who have spent double and treble that, why is it surprising? I’m a beginner compared to some. (Vilya for one probably )

I tried doing that when I first joined this forum but quickly found that I kept getting behind and forgetting to include newly acquired releases, so in the end I just cleared the whole thing and never bothered with it again.

The total cost for my Blu-ray and UHD Blu-ray divided by the number of titles = $18.28 each.

Have not updated Blu-ray.COM in sometime, all movie data is in Movie Collector.

Excited about a free new FW for my JVC projector coming soon that adds Film Maker Mode.

Quote "It includes a filmmaker mode that fulfills the intention of the directors without further settings. This includes true-to-life 24 Hz playback, precise color space display and the deactivation of any image alienating tools. The goal: The viewer should watch movies at home exactly as the filmmakers intended, without having to make a single setting in the image menus."
