I think they would have been fine without the shimmering effect. Just one too many filters IMHO.

Yes, exactly. The shimmering is so ostentatious, it just doesn't fit with the tone of the visuals in the rest of the film.

Don't trust anything Amazon says -- they are not the manufacturer.
If it’s sitting on shelves at Best Buy it didn’t sell out in pre-order as Fein claimed it would.

And it’s still available from several online retailers so it hasn’t sold out across-the-board either.

Unless - as seems to be happening quite a bit in this thread - the Complete Adventure is getting conflated with the regular 4K Director’s Edition. The latter does seem to be currently out of stock just about everywhere, but it’s not a limited release so it will be back in stock at some point.

The last time I looked at the CA listing on Amazon it had a link to the regular 4K DE standalone release and vice versa. They list both options available for the same format of 4K.

Since Amazon has a tendency to lump all reviews of similar items together and since they have these two releases linked this way I wonder if the fact that they have more of DE standalone coming from the manufacturer is what’s allowing customers to place more orders for the CA?

But I won’t discount the possibility that Paramount might be cranking out more of the CA. I think Fein’s tweet reveals what Paramount’s expectations were for this release: that people would choose the CA over the DE, and they underproduced the DE to help goose things in that direction. It’s clear now that customers made the opposite choice and are clamoring for more of the DE release.

Maybe Paramount thinks making more of the CA available will force customers to make the choice they were “supposed” to make in pre-order.

So I guess it’s possible though I don’t know that I’d bank on it either. Will see.

One week over the release date, and still no shipping from Amazon UK. Now I'm getting worried. I placed my pre-order as early as 7th of July.

Meanwhile a limited scandinavian release has been published with a release date 3.10.2022 and price tag 79,95 euros. I'm tempted to place my order, but there's no info if its lacking SLV like the German release.

I mean honestly all they had to do was add a star field behind the original titles and done. Doesn't need to be yellow or sparkly, I don't like the blurry effect on the 2001 edition either. The TE titles are classy. Add a few stars and we're done, that's all it needed.

Classy? They look like TV movie titles.
All the TOS TREK films had creative main titles - except TMP.

Same with the TNG films except for NEM, which goes right into the action on Romulus.

My UK deluxe set arrived in a thin cardboard packaging and thankfully not damaged just some minor crinkling along the top outer box while the contents are for the most part fine and the disc appear issues free.

Going to delve into the bonus disc later.

Frankly the 5-disc arrangement should have been the standard for all regions and even though importing was cheaper for now the actual physical material is rather underwhelming.

Should have been $60 to $70 tops. As much as I dislike Arrows pricing especially when they omit a 1080p copy with 4K releases at least the overall package provides more satisfactory substance to the presentation such as their common 60~page booklets and sturdy outer boxes.

How are the titles for Star Trek III creative?

The simpler credits for the DE End Titles work so much better; Wise gets his commemorative gold, but without the used car dealer huckstering.

You're flying through the clouds of Genesis, into space with a 3D starfield, and finally settle on the Enterprise going by. Still better than the cheap flash cards for TMP.

Got a nice surprise update from Amazon. They sent me the email that the ST: DE
Blu Ray will arrive by tomorrow 10pm but my copy of The Fog 4k will be arriving with it in the same package.

I've had Amazon do this before. If I have two releases coming out a week apart, they'll hold the first release and send the two in the same package the following week when the second release comes out.

Except in 1989 only a FX house like ILM/Apogee/Boss Film could have done the shot. And they didn't hire any of those.

I was really curious to see these infamous “sparkly” opening credits that I’ve heard so much hubbub in this thread about. I finally watched the film this weekend and I actually really liked the new credits, I thought they looked nice. They gave me major cheesy 70s vibes, which I thought was great and very fitting.

Oh yes, they're not terribad by any means. But I did like the fade-ins of the redone credits for the DVD 2001 version better. The starfield brings the movie in like with II, III, V, and VI which all had the "flying though space" feeling. That said I also loved IV with the fade ins of the various elements that made up space and the nebula and the transporter effect of the main title appearing.

What did he want? I can't find a reference anywhere.

He wanted to "take off" from the surface of Nimbus III on the pan up to the sky, warp through space arriving at Earth, then settle into Yosemite Valley. The music reflects when the shot would have gone to warp.
