I wonder if there will eventually be a U.S. release? Not sure if I should wait for a steelbook or buy the Criterion.

I can't remember the artist but they've done some absolutely amazing work and are a lot better then the majority of the artists used for Box art imo. I know they did an awesome Texas Chainsaw piece as well quite a few others.

If this somehow becomes affordable in the US i'd be all over it! I thought I was sticking with the BluRay but this would be just enough to sway me.

Forgive me, probably a total newbie question, but with it being black and white what would be the advantage of HDR?

We aren't getting this in the U.S. It's a StudioCanal release. Honestly, though, you can probably get one from Fnac, and with delivery it might not cost too much more than if you bought it from Best Buy and it had ben priced $34.99 - and you're more likely to get it without any bad damage.

But I'm sure the Criterion release is going to be fine. Their blu-ray is already great.

To best understand you should read up a bit about it.. Something like this article should at least give you a better idea to start with...

I have not seen too many B&W movies yet but I remember The Elephant Man looked absolutely amazing and far and away the best I had ever seen it. It almost felt 3d at times.

Is this showing as “Currently Unavailable” on Amazon.de for anyone else, or am I just SOL when it comes to where they’ll ship this to? Been that way for weeks now.

Fnac still has it for preorder. I'm sure the artwork will be identical

Update: I stand corrected. Looks like the artwork is the same but the movie title on the spine is in French.

It is not. I have this in hand from FNAC. The J-card is in French, but the spine title is in English.

Anybody have this in hand yet? How does it look?

I'm not finding it on this FNAC site, but it looks like I can get it for $50 on the dot, shipped, from Amazon.de or $46 from Amazon.fr.
