I'm surprised that you don't even care who's directing the film or whether this film will bomb or not. I hope that the movie is good though, as in it's definitely intense like the last Star Trek film, not the cheezy, teenage anime adaptations like Dragonball: Evolution.

He peaked before The Sixth Sense? That's funny, because isn't that his most well received flick? I've never seen Praying with Anger or Wide Awake. Are they really that good?

Anyway, they keep giving him a chance because he has name notoriety. And beyond that, they're not really taking such a chance here: this movie isn't an original story. The studio doesn't need to worry about some dumbass twist. You're not going to sit through the movie just to find out in the last 5 minutes that Aang was a ghost the whole time, or that Sokka was the bad guy all along. The story is predetermined, so they need only worry if the man has the ability to direct a fantasy action epic. And really, I know I used this analogy before, but coming from The Frighteners, Peter Jackson gave us The Lord of the Rings trilogy, so I'm willing to give Shyamalan a shot at giving us a good fantasy epic trilogy (especially since I find the concept behind the original story so appealing).

No, think he meant Night peaked with Sixth Sense, unless the OP was suggesting that co-scripting "Stuart Little" was Shamalyan's early masterwork...

Well, I saw the animated series so I know the story. Even if M. Night did change a few things I'm sure it won't be that big. All I know is so far I like what I see. Ofcourse this is just the teaser but still, if the teaser can look this good then I can only imagine what a longer trailer will be like.

It SUCKS to not see Toph in the movie. Shame, but it's a trilogy, so why let yourself down?

I'm kind of excited for the movie. Decided to get 3 seasons of the show after watching the trailer and I like what I've seen so far.

I have no idea what a Airbender is but I did see the trailer during TF2 and I am interested but M. Nightshamalamadingdong has just become a horrible director lately so on one hand I am glad I do not know the story but I also think that all of you who follow it might be dissapointed.

Based on the animated series "Avatar: The Last Airbender" by Nickelodeon, the story revolves around Aang, an airbender who has been frozed for more than a century. Almost a hundred years later, the Fire Nation wreaks havoc on all the other nations, leaving the others to suffer before their rule. Later, a waterbender and her brother from the Water Nation found him on one of the glaciers, and they have claimed to believe that he is the Avatar, a powerful entity that masters all of the elements and is destined to bring balance back to Earth from the Fire Nation. As Aang and the others venture the Earth to master all the elements, the Fire Nation is at full force to stop the Avatar once and for all.

That's pretty much about The Last Airbender in a nutshell, but since it's directed by M. Night Shymalan, it doesn't mean that the movie will bomb. I have expectations for the film, and Shymalan does have some good films to spare.
