After seeing your post, I checked my 4K disc, and yes, there's no voice over the radio in the cab... Now I'm going crazy!

Don't tell Kino, they'll call you insane. And then probably laugh.

Just listened to both commentaries during the cab scene on the Kino 4K and BD and the voice on the radio is there.

I was hoping by now we would have heard about a 4k release from Arrow that would hopefully offer better compression without the Chroma noise, but I guess it's not gonna happen?

So is this missing dialogue then in that scene? I'm assuming if it's in previous blu-rays then it was intended to be there. What was heard on the radio? I'm trying to remember but drawing a blank.

Does the Kino blu-ray that's included with the 4k also have the chroma issue, or is that only the 4k disc? Is their blu-ray the better blu-ray or is Shout's disc better? And of course I guess the Kino blu-ray would be missing the radio dialogue too? Is the 2.0 on the Shout downmixed like Shout tends to do or it it original? So many releases.

In that scene, the taxi driver transmits and receives the radio while driving and the voice on the radio keeps coming out during the entire taxi scene, however, the voice on the radio is completely missing on the KL's 5.1 and 2.0 audio tracks.
I believe this was the initial issue of the MGM release, if I'm not mistaken (personally haven't checked the MGM Bluray release).
In fact, Arrow were aware of this issue and they did fix it for their Bluray release. And I bet KL obviously didn't know about this.
Given the fact that both 5.1 and 2.0 audio tracks on the KL release miss out the voice on the radio, I suspect KL's audio is the same faulty audio from the MGM release and the 2.0 is a down mix of the 5.1.
The SF and Arrow releases have correct audio while the MGM (possibly) and KL don't.

Since I've only viewed the 4K and already sold it off, can't comment on the regular KL BD, but pretty sure it'll be the same and the issues are still there.

I'm just sticking with the SF release right now, as I couldn't stand that incorrect audio. Really frustrating.

Thanks for explaining that. Yeah, I think the Shout is the winner here for now. I was hoping Arrow would have released this on 4k this year.

The commentaries are recorded separately right with different audio tracks but when reversing back to the main track the voice is missing right?

Can I ask what time frame this scene is so I can have a check. Not checked my copy as such.

By the way is there a list of Kino Lorbo 4K blu rays with issues. So far I know of Silence of the Lambs, Spaceballs, this movie....?

Seriously? I compared the two and the Kino seemed head and shoulders better in video quality. Yeah the Kino has some issues but it is so radically better resolved most of the time I am not sure how Shout could possibly be the winner.

I just watched the UHD last night and thought it looked darn good. Nothing jumped out at me as distractingly bad. The
[Show spoiler]dogman creature
gets me every damn time I watch this film. I always forget about it.

I loved it and thought everyone else did too, but there is no pleasing some people.

I love the Kino 4k release. It really increased my enjoyment of the film and it's now part of my annual October horror film fest.

Read a few posts back before you jump on this: The recent complaints are about the audio, and the SF release has much better audio levels and a corrected spot where the Kino drops a chunk of audio altogether. I can't verify as I don't have the SF one, but the other members pointing this out typically are spot-on with assessments like this.

I read it before and the audio sounds fine to me. This idea is entirely based on the fact that you don't care what the disc actually looks like. As far as the audio is concerned, as long as I can hear Don Siegel say "type H" (and I could) it's alright with me.

I understand people getting upset when technical errors are brought up. It aggravates me too. Not that they're brought up but the fact that they exist in the first place. For some reason many folks don't seem to care about audio which I don't understand whatsoever. To me the audio is just as important as the transfer. Even more so in some cases. They are married. You can't have one without the other....unless you are hard of hearing and have to use subtitles.

is this version worth picking up in spite of its shortcomings or should I just settle for the standard blu-ray
