Amazing how this looks like a movie filmed as a tv show. Where walking dead looks so rough it's most definitely a tv show.

Well to be fair HBO shows have much larger budgets than AMC shows.

It honestly seems like when Walking Dead was producing the highest ratings on TV and became this mega behemoth, AMC had long went the cheaper route.

I think Pascal looks the part and I believe he can do well as Joel...

I am not sold on Bella Ramsay but I'll wait and see, hopefully she will be a surprise in the role.

HBO's The Last of Us series got its first teaser trailer this week, and included in it was an unexpected appearance by actress Melanie Lynskey. Known recently for her role as the adult version of Shauna in Showtime's Yellowjackets, Lynskey had not previously been confirmed for a role in The Last of Us with the actress herself regarding the appearance as a "surprise."

When the game was made, Ellen Page and Dylan McDermott's likenesses were almost exact to Joel and Ellie.

So yeah in my headcanon I always imagined it would be them.

And yet when the game released, Ellen was 25 or 26. I suspect most people have a frozen image of Page from the film Hard Candy. But that was released a full eight years before TLOU came out. I wouldn't be surprised if the developers did base Ellie's game model on the Hard Candy-era Ellen Page what with the first name similarity and all.

Trailer looks promising. Both great choices, especially Pedro Pascal.

I'm glad HBO aren't trying to "improve" TLoU and rather have it as is. Amazon, Disney, Netflix, and Paramount could learn from it.

It's not the game. It's a totally new thing. Stating the obvious, apologies for that, but why does the resemblance need to be spot on?

If the script is great, and the actors chosen capable ones, what does it matter if there is a deviation as per their looks?

I mean, hell, back in 2004 Starbuck wasn't even a dude, but look how that turned out.

Im sure having the studio head from Naughty Dog being heavily involved helped out a lot.

Ellen still looked passable enough for a teen by hollywood standards, as latest as X-Men DOFP in 2014.

Like I said. It could've been done a decade ago.
