De Palma has been treated very well in terms of having so much of his work upgraded to 4k. A lot better than most filmmakers.

I was NOT expecting another 4K scan. Did it really need one? Not that I'm complaining - this is actually great news. This means Carrie will look the best it ever looked. Of course, I said the same thing when the Shout Blu-ray was released. Briefly considered waiting for the Arrow edition but it'll likely use the same art so I'll just grab this one. Plus there's no tentative release date for any forthcoming Arrow edition.

Yes! Too bad it's not in time for Halloween, but hey, my wallet will appreciate the little wait we have for this one!

Damn! The last 4 months of 2022 are killing my wallet. De Palma is getting a lot of love on the UHD format.

Day one pre-order. From Amazon. (Sorry, Shout!. Get your act together and we'll talk. When I'm choosing Amazon over you, you know things have gotten crazy.)

But a brand-new 4K scan! Amazing!

I do wonder why they've scanned it again. I thought the existing master was 4K?

It's an opportunity for them to correct past mistakes. Or - make new ones and have us buy it all over again in 4 years. (I kinda hope Arrow gets this, too.)

It's possible that Arrow might of nabbed the UHD rights from their latest deal that was made before the finalization of the Amazon buyout.

The previous one still had some print damage in the opticals, it might've been easier to start with a new scan than take the existing master and rejig it. Also, it may not have been captured with enough bit depth for the HDR, or perhaps it was but it was finished out to SDR and adding HDR on top might not have looked as good as a native HDR grade from the raw scans.

Recalling Mulholland Drive got a very-soon rescan so I'm guessing it's the same idea here. Pretty fancy!

Huh, surprised Shout was doing it. Thought Arrow would have picked up the rights.
