Hi guys,
I am thinking about investing in a new projector but I do not want to buy one just to have the price drop a month later. I tend to have this problem with all the dvds and electronics I buy. Is there a month when new models tend to come out and the prices of previous models tend to lower? Also, would you recommend the Mitsubishi HC1600 or the Infocus X10 if I were to upgrade? I would love to get the Panasonic PTAE3000U but that is a little out of my price range. |

The CEDIA expo in Sept is when most new projector models are announced. If you are worried about new models causing dropped prices on older models, I would wait until those announcements are made.
However, the lower end of the FP market (720p and entry level 1080p) usually doesn't see as much fluctuation as the higher end of the market. Alot of times, manufacturer or retailer rebates or extras will get you a better deal than just waiting for new models to arrive. If you are looking for good value, a lightly used, good quality projector will probably get you the most bang for the buck. |

Any predication on what the AE3000U might drop to by xmas time? I think that will be my next projector when it gets down to hopefully $1500 which may be wishful thinking but who knows. |

I don't think it'll hit that low for quite some time.

It will never end will it, you could also use a FS (Front Silver) mirror to project a larger image (it's cheap, see the mirror topic on this forum).

I am looking at a Video Processor right now. Or I might make the jump to 1080p for my theatre and set up a FP setup in my family room. Arrgh! the wallet!!!! |

Just buy an Infocus X10 1080p projector from tigerdirect.com for $1300, then buy an FS mirror, if you have more than 20 feet from the lense of the projector to the mirror then the mirror to the projector, you could have a 150 inch screen. Also claim there is softness with the 720p at that such size. What's the size of your room?
