yeah, the other week it seemed like it wouldn't come on and that there was very little bass, but I think it was because my daughter was messing with it, now it is working great.

Mine works great, when its working properly. It seems like its just not detecting the LFE signal or something.

Use a Y adapter (2 male, 1 female) and connect the sub cable to both the right and left inputs on the back of the sub. It will make the sub wake up faster and will also make it about 3 to 6 dB louder. You should lower the level on the back of the sub slightly.

I ve had my AA RW sub12 now for a few months. OH MY GOD. I hear bass where I never knew I had it. You will love your sub12. I must say for the money. I wouldn't go anywhere else to get one. I'm seriously thinking about getting a second one even thought I don't need it. I'm bass-head but hey. I konw this isn't exactly a true review, but form a owner to another future owner you'll love this sub.

I'm using a Y adapter and I have it set to on and not auto on and still same issues.

I'm very close to pulling the trigger on a AA sub. But I need help. Should I get the HD-SUB10 and run it with my Sony SA-W2500 sub or retire the Sony sub and get the bigger HD-SUB12?

For about $30-$40 more, get the HD-SUB12 and run it with the Sony. Two subwoofers create more even bass across the room and are preferred to one sub in almost all cases.

Make a bid on the sub on Ebay. You may be able to save about $20-$30.

Big Daddy, what is your thought on running a 2 sub set-up with different manufacturers? Can it be done with a fair amount of tweaking, or is it something you probably shouldn't do? I have read where 2 subs from 2 different manufactuers and/or model #s of the same manufactuerer even, is not always a good idea.......

Two or four subwoofers from the same manufacturer are easier to work with and set up. However, it does not mean that subwoofers from different manufacturers will not work with some tweaking.

You have to position them carefully and adjust the level on the back of each one separately to 75dB from your listening position with an SPL meter.

After you have finished each sub, turn all of them together and adjust their combined level through the receiver so that the combined total is 75dB. You have to lower the gain in the receiver. It is not a bad idea to run Audyssey calibration for multiple positions after this step. Another alternative is to buy an equalizer such as the Velodyne SMS analyzer and do it yourself. I created a sticky for the Velodyne in Subwoofers section.

Thanks Big Daddy. That Velodyne SMS analyzer sound like fun....I will have to look into it so I can do more tweaking!

Great instructions. I was thinking since you mentioned ebay & I can get a sweet deal, I may go ahead and get two HD-SUB12's and put the Sony away until I do the bedroom HT.

If you can afford them, it will be great.

Default NEW Acoustic Audio RW-Sub 12 owner

I am new to the forum. I recently purchased a Acoustic Audio model RW-Sub 12 from Ebay based on the recommendations from this forum. I am finishing my basement and I hope that this purchase will work out. I have a Onkyo TX-SR607 7.2 Channel Home Theater Receiver pushing 2 Klipsch B-2 Bookshelf Speakers a C-1 Center, S-1 Surrounds and 2 Definitive Technology UIW 83/A In-Ceiling Loudspeakers for my rear. I already have a JBL ARC SUB 8inch and want some opinions about running my JBL ARC SUB with my new Acoustic Audio RW-Sub 12. Should I buy another RW and get rid of the JBL?

I believe I bottomed out my Sub12 last night during Max Payne. I had called it a static-pop, but I'm pretty sure its just bottomed out on those scenes. I may need to up my price-point to a more powerful unit. (And keep my Sub12 of course)

In almost all cases, two subwoofers will give you smoother and more even bass sound across the room than one subwoofer.

In general, two identical subwoofers from the same manufacturers is the best option and much easier for placement and setup in a home theater room. However, it is possible to make two different subwoofers work together.

If money is not a problem, then go ahead and buy another RW SUB12 subwoofer and sell the 8" LBL subwoofer.

I will add your name to the list of owners in post #1.

So I have been looking through about 50 pages of this threat and I really temped to go order one for my living room set up and also replace my old KLH subwoofer I got a while back at costco as replacement because my JBL sub died. Any recommendation the KLH is down firing sub is about 120watt and I feel like it going to fall apart very soon. I current have a JBL northridge speaker with old H/K receiver, I will soon upgrade to much more updated receiver probably in few months.

You have two options:
  1. Buy an Acoustic Audio down-firing 12" or 15" sub and use it with your KLH subwoofer in a dual sub setup. If the KLH is in bad shape, you can change its driver with a better quality driver. Read the DIY Subwoofer Building and Upgrading.
  2. Sell your KLH on Ebay or give it to a friend and get one or two 12" down-firing or front-firing Acoustic Audio subs.

I was looking at front firing sub from AA and I really like how it look; are they any major different between as features over the other.

I'm just planning to just get rid of it...I didn't really the output.

I was looking into doing dual sub but the way everything is set up in the living room I could do one sub, but I may looking into doing a dual in my bedroom.
Thanks for help BD!
