Show’s definitely improved with episodes 6 and 7. I’m just glad things are actually happening now lol. It’s even starting to actually feel like a Star Wars show too. Hoping that it’ll keep up the quality through the rest of the season.

It will. It has the right people behind it, like some of their other good shows.

Just finished ep 7. This is some of the best Star Wars I’ve ever seen, mainly because it isn’t about Star Wars. And I don’t mean that in an alternative font kinda way, I’m serious: it’s just damned good television and it wouldn’t matter when or where it takes place or what franchise it’s affiliated to, when you’ve got acting/writing/direction of this calibre it makes every minute of it into an event. What. A. Show.

It's pretty good, but it's no Star Trek Into Darkness, Tomorrowland, or Prometheus.* What if it was set in a Turkish prison? Say, Geoff, do you like movies about gladiators?

* LucasFilm is developing a Star Wars film with Damon Lindelof...what could go wrong?

Now that HOTD and LOTR are over I hope Andor starts getting more attention!

I refer the honorable gentleman to an answer I gave a few weeks ago.

But not in the sense that people use it when their fan fiction projections and sensibilities are ignored in favour of the story the writers felt compelled to tell. What I mean is that it's definitively no longer a case of "Star Wars is this". But a case of "Star Wars can be this".

It's taken a huge step away from fairy tale genre realm that the Saga operates in. And also from Rogue One. I know a lot of people are calling this the vindication of Rogue One being the direction that "Star Wars" needed to have taken all along. But from my perspective, Andor is capitalising on the best parts of Rogue One rather than validating that movie as a whole (which I feel is somewhat overrated). Perhaps that's just systematically appropriate as Rogue One will eventually serve as a bridge from this series into the Saga.

What Andor is doing, in my opinion, is not establishing the new aesthetic direction for Star Wars, but, along with Mando, Boba, OWK, and even Bad Batch, Clone Wars et al, it's validating "Star Wars", the GFFA if you like (and "Disney Star Wars" whether you like that term or not) as a genre in itself that can accommodate different forms of the conventional genre types we have grown accustomed to over the past hundred years.

In short there should be no further debate over the propriety of future Star Wars projects other than the perceived success at achieving what they set out to do individually. In terms of style, tone and aesthetic. I sincerely hope that the success of Andor does not prompt future LFL/Disney execs to say "Just do that again".

Like it or not. The diversity in riches that are forthcoming from the franchise, is a product of the diversity in authorship of the sequel trilogy. Despite what some fans wish the narrative to be, the numbers on those movies, critically and commercially, including Rogue One, showed that it was a creatively sound policy.

It's just unfortunate what happened with Solo as it's even better than Rogue One in my opinion.

I concur with this statement. Andor feels like a natural/perfect prequel to R1 already.

True, it isn’t immediately about Star Wars but rather what leads us into Star Wars - mainly the OT which is the gem of the saga. That’s why rogue one works so well. The look, feel, camera work, everything is working quite satisfactorily. It’s also not adding things that don’t belong, not trying to be too clever, not subverting….. I won’t say it.

Assuming that I’m addressing the real Martoto here (it’s like I’m in Fight Club and watching Tyler Durden wrestle with his opposing sides, only it’s not nearly as cool) then I will merely say this in reply: I fookin love Solo.

You do know the stuff people hate about Prometheus were Ridley Scott's on set improvisations and things he had added to the script during filming, correct?

I also don't see people criticizing The Leftovers either.

I know Lindelof, under Sccott's guidance, re-wrote a script called Alien: Engineers, by Jon Spaihts that was a more direct prequel to Alien. Alien: Engineers was a single film that ended with an engineer crash-landing on LV-426, but Scott wanted a trilogy, wanted to explore larger questions of faith, science, creation, mortality...Lindelof may have been in a lose-lose situation.

Or Watchmen for HBO.

I just think the JJ Lost/Star Trek mystery box crew needs to stay away from Star Wars.

I’m guessing this next arc is a prison break arc. Andor isn’t staying there for long.

That footage of Andor wearing a jumpsuit-type uniform and fiddling with machinery parts on tables, with a bunch of others dressed similarly around him, is part of the prison break arc.
