I'm surprised there are no steelbook pics yet. I'm curious if it looks any better in person. Is DV the only upgrade for this release? I'm tempted because I love the movie, but it would be 50ish bucks.

There's also a new featurette that is a retrospective thing with the actors or whatever. If it's like the Men in Black ones, it could be good.

I want to get it only because it's a DV re-release, but, being only a US release, it'd coast me more than 60 euros and I don't want to just for a blind buy I don't know anythign about. Now if it wasn't US only..

How limited is this steel?

This is from the 4k Steelbook thread
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...6&postcount=80

I have it, it looks better in person but it's still cartoonish and not that great. I need to watch this new disc soon

What about the "light cannon" grading? Did Sony change it?

It's very bright. Maybe a tad less than the last transfer and a bit more balanced.

Really looking forward to this "Skeletor edition"!
That steely is gonna look so awesome beside my Robocop and Total Recall steels!
But I do hope they reduced brightness from "eyeball searing" to "acceptable"...

Looks like we've got our first unboxing vid!
Sucks we don't get inside artwork but seems like that's the new norm these days as we saw with Dracula. Looks better than I thought it would though and I cannot wait to get my hands on it.

I imagine it's exactly the same, just balanced a bit better brightness wise apparently and DV helps with that too of course.

Just watched the new disc, what a beauty! Briefly compared with the previous version. After watching the new disc it's very harsh to watch the old one at 4000 nits brightness. The brightness on the new disc is very natural and pleasing, not eye searing. Compression and grain management also looks much better. If you're a fan of the movie it's worth a double dip, in my opinion. It was fun revisiting this movie as well.

Are you able to determine the MaxCLL of the new disc?

I was curious how grain was handled.

On my Lg C7 OLED, the grain looked horrible - worst I have ever seen (along with Crouching Tiger). I don’t mind grain, but not when it’s moving around like swarming ants. That’s too distracting.

Good to know! I think I’ll order.

Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to find MaxCLL from Oppo that I'm playing from.

Importing from the US is quite expensive these days for most EU countries. It's hard to justify €50+ for one movie.
