Great. Thanks guys.
Seems you can't go wrong by turning it 'OFF' - which is what I'll do.
Thanks again!

Stupid question if my receiver can pass to tv everything that that 820 can give - there's no even minimal advantage to separately connect player? audio to receiver and video straight to tv?

If your receiver can really pass it properly then there is no difference.

Not even less/quicker HDMI-handshaking?

Yep, from what I understand my Marantz SR7011 only misses HDR10+ support, but my LG C1 is not supporting it either, so it's the same.

I'm having some issues with my players, for some reason my SONY and my Denon AVR aren't gelling, one of them is turning DTS HD MA 2.0 into Dolby Surround and I can't seem to fix that, I thought 2.0 might be an issue so I tried a 6.1 MA track and that seemed to work okay.

I then popped it into the 820 and the HD track is listed as just DTS and it's so quiet it's almost silent. The whole audio thing is driving me potty along with eARC on my TV being completely broken (everything is plugged into the AVR directly apart from the 820's video).

Will try another player tonight, but after not using the AVR and the players for a while, I'm about to give up.

On Sound United remotes, it's usually the green button that cycles through or turns off matrix upmixing features like Dolby Surround and DTS Neural: X.

In the player, make sure audio bitstreaming is turned on for all codecs, secondary audio is off, and Dynamic Range Control is off as well.

Thanks, I'll check those out, from what I remember when I've played HD 5.1 tracks in the past it disables any matrix upmixing (I can't remember what happened to HD 2.0), but now if I press the Movie button DTS HD MA isn't even an option.

I'm not sure if one of the Denon's updates has changed the options or if it's the player that's causing the restrictions.

If you just want stereo or direct on 2.0 tracks, you might need to hit the yellow button depending on the vintage of your receiver.

Managed to get DTS HD MA from the Sony as well as the Panasonic, but the latter is almost silent.

Make sure secondary audio is set to off on the Panny, and turn off 7.1 reformatting as well

I think they are (pretty much everything is off), will have to have another go tomorrow. The volume seems consistent over other devices, it's just Mr. Panny that's so low. I might try plugging its HDMI 1 into the AVR instead of just the audio.

Grabbed a random Uni BD off the shelf, I don't watch as many Blus as I'd like, but, yikes, what a pain in the arse to get to the movie. Whatever robot decided going straight to the menu was a bad idea needs a slap.

Question about settings... I've been noticing lately that my player is not resuming a film where I left off. I typically pause and then power off, or pause and then let it go to sleep while I do something else with the television. Is there a setting that will allow me to start where I left off instead of loading the disc all over again?

It depends on the disc.

I gave up trying to pass DV through my JBL 9.1 from the 820. I just used the extra HDMI out and plugged the audio one into the JBL, the other into the TV. It uses one more HDMI port on the TV but I haven’t had to deal with it since.

UB820 has hit $399.98 at Best Buy, I more than likely will pick it up at some point before the end of the year as I suspect it will be that price again around Christmas. While it has been that price before, I don't think it's been any lower.

With the UB820 at $399 right now, if "someone in the know" had to advise...would it be prudent to buy this player, or wait and see if/what happens in 2023/2024 re Panasonic players? I'm looking for a backup player to my Oppo-203, so not in a huge rush...
