I've never hit on a raffle that I've entered.

Feel as though they're just as much of a crap shoot as SNKRS, especially for a big release.

And I really don't like having to submit payment information before entering. I know they won't charge me unless I win, but it still bothers me. Every time you hand over credit card information to a new site, it increases the chances of it being stolen or some kind of identity theft.

That wouldn't bother me so much if I knew I was getting the shoes.

But giving a company my credit card number when I probably only have a 10% chance of even getting the shoes, doesn't fall in line with my risk vs. reward formula.

Anyone get the Cherry 11s off the app there was a early drop today but there not out until sometime in December. I got the notification on my phone but i checked and was sold out will have to wait until Dec 10th and try for it off the app or another various places.

I hit on the cherry 11 shock drop, which Nike actually calls the varsity red, these will be flipped or traded though

Was able to get entries on FL and Champs apps
Was out of town for work this week and went to two different Shoe Palace to enter raffles on Tuesday, got a call from one of them today that I won ... didn't hit on men size but did hit on a GS 7, so I don't hit on any apps I will make the trip tomorrow to pick them up and they will go towards a pair in my size

Oh and just as I had been browsing deals for UNC 1 highs, they announced a rerelease next summer!

I took Ls for the Lost & Found from Foot Locker, JD & a local shop but got a very surprising W from SNKRS. I also hit on the shock drop for the cherry 11s (which was my first ever W on SNKRS). The app was very good to me this week.

When I was in high school in the 90's and early 2000's, Brooks were a solid affordable shoe. When did prices suddenly skyrocket? I go to their site and everything is $150+ CAD.

In better news, here's hoping a recent Foot Locker order doesn't get cancelled and I can finally own a pair of Dunk Low (Retro Iron Grey/Green).

I stumbled into this thread by chance, so I figure I will ask the knowledgeable folks here as I am by no means a "sneakerhead." What is going on with the Nike Cortez? I have been wearing them my whole life. I just wore out my most recent pair (sole is separating and holes, etc.). I went to purchase a new pair and they are not available to buy anywhere! Even on the Nike website, there are no adult Cortez sneakers, and just a bunch of overpriced limited edition colors. What happened to the basic nylon Cortez? I have been buying them for like 25 years and they were always readily available and inexpensive. Have they been discontinued?

I think you'll find much like their other staples (AF1's etc) they're a cyclical release. They'll do a run of the base version in the standard two or three colours, then they'll spend the rest of the year doing limited releases. Rinse, repeat.

I actually only got these because as a wrestling fan also, Batista turned a pair of these into wrestling boots that he wore for his last ever match & I thought it’d be cool to also have a pair. my cherry 11's arrived today, very pretty looking but too much white and bright red for me, they will be flipped hopefully towards some L&F's

I had been watching dunk lows ACG terra red plums since I missed them last year. Lowest ask had been $250 for some reason, even though market price was $205. Highest bid was $160 so for the hell of it I put in a $165 bid and someone bit yesterday unexpectedly and shipped today. I'll take that W

Thank you for the info (and sorry for the late reply). I guess I will have to find an alternative. It's a shame because I have been buying the basic nylon Cortez sneakers my whole life and never paid more than $70 for them. I can't understand why Nike has decided to turn them into a "limited time only" offering. It's a sneaker they have offered consistently for decades. Basic Cortez sneakers are selling on eBay for $200+

Does anyone know of a similar style, preferably under $100 US?

won the dunk low arizona st and miami hurricanes, guess they just sat there in stock. maybe most dunks, besides panda's, have hit an oversaturation point

That's the problem with a lot of classic styles. They start cheap, become popular and doesn't take long for the average person to get priced out, so they move to the next style, they become popular, and the cycle repeats.

As far as looks go, one thing that set the Cortez apart was the sole. Other shoes have the same pattern, but most stop them short of the edge and have a solid border. The Cortez allowed it to go right the the edge.

I'd look at the Adidas Stan Smith's.
Nike Air Pegasus 83 (though I believe they aren't leather.)
Puma also has a similar styles shoe. Can't remember what it's called.

Unfortunately you'll find they all suffer the same problem. Standard releases, overshadowed by a slew of overpriced special editions and collaborations.

Thank you so much for the help. I will likely give the Pegasus shoes a go, they are similar in construction to the Cortez. I don't mind that they are not leather. I actually liked the nylon Cortez (which seem to be completely discontinued now) as they were more breathable and didn't require as much break-in. Thanks again!

Got a couple pairs of Adidas during Black Friday. The black pair was actually ordered during Veterans Day as they have a nice 40% discount for Vets on that day.
