Dialogue and sound effects randomly missing on Lionsgate releases seems to be a trend, unfortunately. The Total Recall release had this issue and now Reservoir Dogs. Hoping the upcoming Highlander release doesn't also suffer the same fate.

It's not a recent thing with Dogs though, as folks have said this dates back to the 10th anniversary DVD where the remixes were missing this line and we were all having this same discussion about it. They corrected it for the 15th anniversary Blu-ray, but as they seemingly remastered the 5.1 mix for the 4K transfer then the old omission has snuck back in. D'oh!

ASBL is an OLED dimming feature that kicks in when static images are present for an extended amount of time to counter image retention/burn in. However they are very distracting when watching movies so it's best to turn them off.

That would be nice, but unlikely to happen. Most ppl don't even know about this issue at all.

Why else does he not release Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair in 4K? :-/

EDIT: I bought the UK BD. Will use the 4K for my next viewing thou. Maybe I'll remux the 4K video with the BD audio or whatever. Maybe...

No filmmaker should neglect home video. Why make a movie if you don't want as many people enjoying it as possible. You'd think he'd want to be involved in all of his films' releases. Especially as a film lover himself. He should want them all painstakingly restored.

As for Reservoir Dogs, the video was excellent, but the audio mix was pretty bad (For me personally). Haven't watched the film on Blu-ray in a while, but I don't remember the audio being as quiet as it was in the isolated one on one scenes in the warehouse. I found myself cranking the volume to hear the dialogue, only for the next scene to be blaringly loud. I know this is common in most releases, but I found this one to be very disjointed.

I caught Reservoir Dogs 4K las night for the first time & wow, I could never have imagined that this film could look so good. This transfer even made my jaw drop ~once or twice. Very nice, I will be watching it again tonight. Thanks QT
