My first order from Shout was the Slumber Party Massacre Collection...12 years ago Supposedly if you ordered directly you could still get the uncut commentaries. Apparently the set was recalled shorty after release and one of the actors was completely edited out of one of the tracks. I forget why.

Slumber Party double-feature is $39.98 CAD at Amazon.ca. Pretty great price for Canada from what I can see

I always check because 4K discs are so incredibly finicky. I have been collecting since disc media has existed (Laserdisc aside) and I have never seen so many scratched discs as I have now.

If 4K discs weren't as finicky and I guess easy to scratch as they are now, I wouldn't check. The only discs I've had issues with, were ones that were scratched or scuffed. And seeing as how some titles I don't get around to watching right away, I don't want to be outside the return window.

Image buying a limited boutique release to find it doesn't play a few months later and you're SOL. That and scratches will only get worse over time, so that disc that plays now might be unplayable in 5-10 years.

For the prices they charge. It's totally unacceptable. Companies should be ashamed of themselves for shipping out Blu-ray with physical defects in them. Especially the smaller companies. There's literally ONE thing to check. And they can't even get that right.

Now take in account, Blu-Ray's are harder to scratch because of their protective coating as opposed to DVD. Yet consumers get brand new Blu's scratched. Mind blowing.

PS: It's not so much the 4K Blu are finicky, it's the 4K player itself. They pick up more imperfections.

I do it with every disc I buy, new or used. First thing I do is check the playing side of the disc.

Used discs are different, I always check those out before purchase. Some of them look like someone took a belt sander to them.

Meant to get round to replying to the above posts. Thanks for the direct/indirect comments/observations about Shout's packaging. In the end, I decided to leave purchasing the TV on DVD complete series boxset directly from Shout until a later time, when hopefully there will be another, similar sale. I decided that after paying for the shipping to have it sent to a friend in the States, then for it to be sent onto me, followed by the very likely customs charges, the saving made in the sale would have been mostly eaten up.

Unless they are going OOP, there will always be another chance/sale

MVD are releasing The Return of Swamp Thing, not the original film..

edit: Oh, I see the article from The DIgital Bits mentioning that MVD is working on Swamp Thing as well.

I'm assuming these will be MVD and not the Rewind Collection?

At least with Return of Swamp Thing, it's actually from Lightyear Entertainment themselves, but distributed by MVD, so yeah, no Rewind Collection branding. Swamp Thing may be different, as it's being rumored as a Rewind Collection release.

Optimistic and very true. Certain boxsets like the one I'm referring to will be available in another sale/offer at a later time. You have an idea of what order you want to buy/purchase titles in, but usually the order gets altered (there is a German Blu-ray TV season set I want to get, but that can wait until early next year (hopefully). The release date was in late November, but because of an issue with some copies (a missing disc), the availibility date has been pushed back to just before Christmas once the issue has been sorted out).

I've been sick for a while now and away from the boards this last week... has there been any word on when Scream Factory will be mailing out the t-shirts? I seem to recall someone mentioning an e-mail a week or two ago but I myself never received any such e-mail and last I could remember it was planned to ship this month. Are we still on schedule or has the t-shirt bumped to January? Do we know? I checked my September order with it listed and it's still in the processing stage and so I wasn't sure when to expect those to go out.

That was me who posted the email. Here's the email i received on 11/29. Haven't heard anything since.

We're thrilled to announce our Scream Factory 10th Anniversary shirts will begin shipping within the next few weeks!

If you need to change your address or cancel your order, now is your last chance to do so!

Please let us know by Monday, December 5th of any changes. That's the absolute latest we can take requests; we won't be able to adjust anything after that.

Thank you once again for your order - we can't wait for you to see these terrifically terrifying t-shirts!

Best,
Shout Factory

I got mine from HMV and it has the uncut commentaries. Definitely something I'll keep in my collection.

I'm so happy that Slumber Party Massacre II will be back on the market. I first saw it back in 1987 and I still have the original poster art that my local video store gave me once they were finished with it.

I waited too long on the blu and missed out. Hopefully part 3 gets a 4k/blu release shortly.
