I want singles but if I have to get a box set, I'll cave. I'd prefer if it's just the Reeves collection. I like Returns but it should be its own movie. I don't like it getting clumped in with the Reeve movies.

I really only want a new 4k transfer for Part 1, along with Part II. I'd begrudgingly purchase a set of the 4 Christopher Reeve movies. I wouldn't touch anything beyond that.

I have a feeling it's really more than a few - Returns just got stuck with this ridiculous "failure" narrative that people push to this day. For me, the only other Superman film that comes close to Returns is the original Donner movie. Routh out-Reeved Reeve. The Superman action sequences have yet to be beat. And as much as I like Zimmer's Man of Steel score on it's own, I'll take Ottman's use of Williams' score any day.

Sure, Luthor is still obsessed with a real estate plan that can't ever really work (and who was going to want to vacation on that ugly Kryptonian rock?), but I think he would've had a hard time cashing in in the first movie, too.

I know they were talking about remastering Superman: The Movie so it would be nice to get the new 4k scan with this set.

I hadn't watched Returns in a while so I decided to watch it Thanksgiving weekend. I still think it's a good film and enjoyed revisiting it. Routh was excellent as both Clark and Supes, but I think Kate Bosworth was miscast as Lois. Great action scenes, solid F/X, some humor, some camp and some heart. I loved hearing John Williams AMAZING score again when I saw this in IMAX. Shame this isn't getting remastered and released on 4K UHD with the Reeves films. There's a lot of room for improvement with the current blu-ray.

Outside of the Donner cut for II, I don't believe any alternate cuts are being included.

I enjoy Superman Returns for what it is, but out-Reeve Reeve? Nah. One of my biggest problems with the movie is that Routh plays Superman a bit stiff and awkward, not managing to capture the charm of Reeves. A lot of that is probably why the chemistry with Kate Bosworth was lacking so much. I still maintain Brandon Routh would have been better suited to a new, young Superman just starting out, instead of a movie that's a sort of sequel continuation of the Donner films.

Despite this, I still view what I call the "father/son" trilogy of Superman: The Movie Special Edition, Superman II the Donner Cut, and Returns. It works pretty well that way. Disappointed it may not be included in the UHD set-- the movie could really use the upgrade, and I can't imagine when it might get it's own release. If not now, when?

There is only one Superman and nobody will ever surpass Christopher Reeve... Nobody! I do hope those that are a fan of returns get a release though.

Nice! Can't wait to see Returns not look like shit! The 35mm print I saw in 2006 was gorgeous!

As long as we get a redo of the Superman The Movie Theatrical 4K UHD I think this 4K box set of all 4 Christopher Reeve Superman films will be well worth in 2023.

His name is Jim Bowers he is a big Superman and Christopher Reeve Superman fan and runs Caped Wonder dot com and has so since 2002 he knows his stuff and rarely gets anything wrong. He is a researcher on The Christopher Reeve Superman films and releases a ton of BTS information on those movies on the website so he is not just a insider. Here's a link to his website https://www.capedwonder.com/

Everyone has their view, but Bryan Singer clearly intended SR to be a continuation of the narrative of the Donner conceived films (Superman 1&2). The characters are the same, Routh is obviously channeling Reeve's interpretation - even using verbatim dialog ("Statistically speaking flying is till the safest way to travel"), they reuse Marlon Brando dialog and footage, the night flight with Lois is a reprise of their first date, Luthor has the same silly land grab scheme (and sidekicks in the same mold), the John Williams score is reused, the last shot of Superman circling earth replicates the concluding shots of the Reeve Superman films. It is definitely designed to be clumped with (at least the first two) Reeve films.

Love Reeve but 3 & 4 wasted his time in the role.
3 has its problems but Reeve was in good form, and I loved the junkyard fight between Clark and Evil Superman.
4 was ambitious in scope (and definitely a better Superman showcase than 3 was), but scuttled on account of its cheapskate producers who clearly did not deserve the franchise rights. Reeve was enthusiastic about the project when it was conceived (especially since he was given leeway to develop the story) and convinced other players like Margot Kidder and Gene Hackman to join in, but realized that it was going to be a hot mess when Cannon halved the budget some weeks before filming was to begin. He was a true gentleman though, and whatever 4's faults are, he still gives the A-game in his role (love the scene where Clark and Lois have an emotional tete-a-tete after Superman is poisoned by Nuclear Man).

More related films in a collection is always better. The BD box I currently have on my shelf is 1 - 4, plus Returns. I expect the same to replace it.

Even Superman himself (Brandon Routh) was greatly disappointed in the film he ended up making, because in his mind and experience, "It wasn't a Superman movie." in the end. He was hoping for something more akin to Man of Steel, in terms of action and scale. All the failings of Superman Returns can be laid squarely at the feet of it's director, producer, writer, and overall creative controller, Bryan Singer.

Reeve was awesome as Supes, however I said the same thing about Jack Nicholson regarding playing the Joker and Heath gave us something different but also incredible.

And here we have the same silly comments that came out about the Indy box set. People whining and saying ridiculous things like I’d pay that price for the first 3 alone but not with the 4th included.

Better be careful or we’ll have someone going on and on about Harrison Ford being too old again.

Isn't Returns diverging somewhat into an alternate timeline post-II? Makes sense to not be in the set... sort of...

I don't know. Me thinking too much. Me tired.
