I hate it when the discs are stored inside vice grip cardboard sleeve "book" pages as they are in the original Twin Peaks set. It is a design that almost guarantees scratched discs sooner or later.

My Middle Earth box set arrived a little dog eared on the outer box corners, Amazon strikes again, but they gave me a discount bringing my total cost to only $87, so at least I got a really good price.

Oh yeah, the whole Twin Peaks series was another I added my BD collection a week ago. Watched the original series about twelve years ago, never the new one or the movie that I still need to get. Will begin after finishing Miami Vice season 1. Don't like having too much on my plate. Held off on Twin Peaks BD for the longest time because of the two or three 4K episodes on the older set. Still afraid that after I remove the shrinkwrap, they'll announce a 4K set.

My entire VS order arrived today along with my Eureka order of Dr Caligari 4K UHD set.

I went ahead and ordered Raised by Wolves S1 & S2 on BD from Amazon UK. HBO MAx is pulling those permanently and I never did finish season 1, so will need the BD's before they raise the prices/goes oop.

Now I have completed my watchlist of Blu-ray/UHD for the year, I thought I would give my top 5 (not necessarily 2022) favourite films.

The Father 5/5
Dogs Don’t Wear Pants 4.5/5
The Last Duel 4.5/5
Manchester By The Sea 4/5
Orphans 4/5

How about everyone else?

I don't know, but Prince and the Revolution Live is the worst Blu-ray of the year. Shameful the AI ****ery they did to that concert. Would have been perfectly happy with an SD version in the highest possible Blu-ray quality.

I hate those cardboard sleeves too. Sadly many CD's now seem to come in this manner rather than using a proper jewel case.

I was going to place another order from VS but at the moment they're not displaying their releases until the New Year, according to the website. Anyway, at least I received Do Not Open Till Christmas, which I ordered last month.

Full marks to VS as well for their packaging which is always excellent - a nice strong box with plenty of bubble wrapping, and quick delivery too.

This is my top 5 so far in no particular order. All 2022 movies.
It feels odd putting movies in there not from this year.

-She Said
-The Northman
-Avatar: The Way of Water
-Top Gun: Maverick
-The Batman

Yeah, it’s just the way I watch them. Massive backlog. Also, I buy a lot of catalogue releases of films I haven’t seen like Orphans, Naked, Riff Raff etc..

Yeah, it’s irritating when the partner releases are there all month.

I was going to order Volume 4 of the Forgotten Gialli boxsets, (I already have Vol. 2 & 3). I really should have ordered it last month at the same time I ordered the Christmas disc but I was just a bit undecided at that moment in time. Silly me.

I have not seen a few of the bigger titles as I (once again) am waiting on my decision to pick up a MadVR Envy before I pop them in. Still looking at you Wendell.

What I have seen, my top 5 in no particular order:

The Batman
Bullet Train
Top Gun Maverick
Doctor Strange Multiverse
Watcher

I own but have not seen:

Everything Everywhere All At Once
Nope
Northman
Power of the Dog
Three Thousand Hears of Longing
X

I have a feeling my favorite 5 will change once I get around to seeing titles from the second list however.

I also have those titles on your second list except Three Thousand Years Of Longing.

I have most of your first list but Watcher doesn’t release until Feb over here.

Watcher has such a Hitchcock vibe to me with a great performance from Maika Monroe from It Follows. Surprised me how much I liked it as I wasn’t expecting much from it.

Yeah. I have these
because it's my favorite movie and I bought

to get a slipcover for the US release. I don't care for steelbooks though so the only time I'd buy one if it is the only way to get a release.

Rectify that, mate. It's one of the best films of the year that no one saw. The 4K disc is pretty spectacular, as well.

I loved the Wave and the Quake, so have the Burning Sea sitting there waiting. Interesting the different title for it on these shores.
