* Even so, many cinematographers will use filters and such to "soften" the images a bit when shooting spherical (for example, 12 MONKEYS was shot with black net diffusion filters over the lenses for the entire film), while anamorphic has a bit of "softening" built in, so it's probably a wash in many cases.
Yup that is a good point.

It's more that the older the glass the more distorted/soft it gets, as well as the resolving power of the stock itself.

No DH 2 or 3? I'd hope the LW movies make it at some point.

The Lethal Weapon movies are WB, so it's pretty much a guarantee they'll hit UHD at some point. They should have done it this year for the 35th anniversary of the original.

The Die Hards are with Disnee. Best of luck with that

YES IT'S FINALLY COMING!!! I've been waiting a long time for this one. I found out my Face/Off blu-ray stopped working sometime last year after only watching it 1-2 times since buying it day 1. Paramount were kind to help me with a free replacement. The first disc (USA) didn't work either, but the second (Canadian) ended up working. I was so thankful and said I would definitely buy the 4K UHD version if it ever came out because this film is one of my favourites. The only thing is that from the forum threads I've seen related to Kino published films is that they tend to have quality issues. Here's hoping no problems plague this release.

Given that Wall-E went to Criterion, I wonder if other Disney/Fox films will go to them as well. The Rock previously had a Criterion DVD release.

Yeah that's a shame, but sounds like Lethal Weapon 5 is set to begin filming in 2023, so 1-4 will probably come to UHD when it's nearing release.

I know but he listed other titles that are with Disney and Warner. I think Long Kiss is with Warner?

The WALL-E Criterion thing was a one-off at best, so don't expect a trend.

This news is triumphant. I just recently imported the Australian Disney disc too...

Ya Long Kiss is New Line so it would be released by Warner.

DH2 and 3 have a Disnee stream in 4k
It’s something I guess, but yeah I’d like those on disc as well.

Armageddon and The Rock both had Criterion DVDs. I owned them… good stuff

In the right hands (which is usually the case with Warner) an Atmos remix of Long Kiss would be a houserocker.

I’m shocked that this is coming out before Con Air or The Rock, pleasantly so though. Maybe 23 won’t completely suck donkey balls.

I would definitely love The Rock and Armageddon to get another Criterion disc. It would make more sense on 4K UHD than it ever did on DVD that's for sure...

Given the more unlikely nature of it even releasing without a licensing.

Best to temper hope. Fully aware this is still a longshot thing to eventuate. But Wall-E makes the window far more open, no matter what pragmatism would suggest. 4K UHD is filled with unlikely turns and happy evolutions.

I just saw this a couple of weeks ago after 10-15 years, day 1 for sure.

This has great CGI, Travolta looks just like Cage, and vice versa.

The only downside of this 4K is the stuntmen’s faces and safety wires will be even more noticeable. See the Quentin Tarantino lookalike that hits the fence at the end of the hangar shootout.
