I didn't know about the other regions also including the 5.1 tracks, just makes it weirder that it was skipped for the US releases.

It is interesting how Japan didn't get a 1080p disc for 1.01, this situation also affects Sailor Moon where Italy's Dynit DVD is a much higher quality master than Japan has ever gotten, and is currently the best way to watch that series.

Another licensor is involved for the 5.1 OST tracks.

I believe it was also confirmed that this will be on a second disc, so I'd hazard a guess it will be at least somewhat substantial in terms of runtime.

I've only been to a couple of anime fathom events, so I dont know where this falls on the spectrum, but the screenings of the two Macross Frontier movies a few months back were pretty packed. I'd guess probably a 2/3rds full house on both nights.

The Macross Plus and Macross Frontier screenings bombed very hard at my theater, they did only low single digits. After how poorly Macross Plus did, I'm surprised we got Macross Frontier.

Nope as FUNimation's rights seem to have expired. We don't when GKIDS (which has 3.0+1.0 and the original series and movies) will end up rescuing them, and even then, we don't know if the original FUNimation dub and subtitle scripts will be on a re-release from them.

Default US BD Market Report

  • Evangelion 3.33 is the only US Rebuild BD that's still readily available at retail (e.g. Amazon, Best Buy, etc.) as of December 2022.

  • It seems that the remaining supply of new US BDs of Evangelion 2.22 dried up relatively recently as it's not available at major online retailers, but at the moment used copies can still be picked up on eBay with BIN prices as low as $11. I expect the used pricing to increase sharply over the next couple months, though.

  • Of course obtaining the US Blu-ray of Evangelion 1.11 is the biggest problem, as it's been OOP for a few years now. Based on a cursory search of completed eBay listings, expect to pay anywhere from $50 to $80 for a used copy.

Khara has finally released an image of what the Amazon-exclusive bonus items (i.e. a three-sided slipbox + 5x postcards) for the 3.0+1.11 BD/UHD releases will actually look like. Doesn't seem to be worth the extra ¥2000 that it's priced at as compared to the standard releases IMO.

Does anyone have the Hong Kong Blu-ray for 1.11? How is the quality, was consdiering it since it's seems be cheapest way to get it with English subs without buying OOP Funimation release.

Unfortunately that's the only HK Rebuild BD that I haven't owned to date, but from what I've heard its video and audio are fine but the English subtitles have some occasional grammar issues and an incomprehensible line or two.

I'll prob just try to hold out for Gkids re-release. Already confirmed they're doing the last movies physical media release. I know you can still get 2.22 and 3.33 but I don't really want to over spend for 1.11 Funimation release.

There is also the Manga UK Blu-ray for 1.11 that’s still available and currently on sale through Rarewaves. It is Region B however.

If you're okay with used, I sorta frequently see used copies at places like FYE.

So I ended up with both versions of evangellion 1.11. Which one should I keep and what would be a good price to sell each of them at? I would put condition at like new.

There's actually more like 3 versions.

1. Digipak with Fly Me to the Moon extras (R0).
2. Digipak without Fly Me to the Moon extras (R1).
3. Standard Blu-ray case version without Fly Me to the Moon extras and DVD logo at the bottom (don't get how they made that mistake).

If you have the Fly Me to the Moon extras on the digipak version, that will be more valuable, though lots of people are unaware the extras were removed.
https://forum.evageeks.org/thread/10...-later-prints/

BTW, for those that have the first printing, what Anime Source volume came with it, and what titles are advertised on the front of it? On the back, it'll say "In Anime-[Letter of the alphabet]". It would help me figure out what copies likely have the extras from the first print run as I've been wanting to find the digipak version with those extras as I have the third version. I have the digipak-sized booklet as mine came without a booklet, contacted FUNi, and they sent me the wrong-sized booklet.

How do you check? I assume it would be a first edition given where I got it from. Kind of an interesting story to me buying this thing ended up buying it from oppo headquarters on craigslist lolz.

This is what it came with. It says dvd at the bottom but does not come with a dvd or a spot for it.

Yes, the 3 versions of Fly Me to the Moon were removed from the later printings.
