Yep:

"NFL owners approved the resolution modifying this year’s playoffs.
The possibility of a neutral-site AFC Championship Game, and a coin flip to determine where a Ravens-Bengals wild-card game would take place, depend in part on what happens in Week 18."

Rages chart applies for the champ game.

This is the coin toss scenario:
- Baltimore wins Sunday, completing a season sweep of the AFC North champions
- Baltimore is the 6 seed (not the 5)
- Baltimore and Cincinnati meet in a wild-card game (not any other round)

So they both may not happen but 1 or both will if it plays out that way.

Given the circumstances you can’t really find fault with this decision. Just glad Damar is going to be okay.

I find fault cause they changed the rules when there already was a rule.

Two teams watched on as a 24 year old nearly lost his life on the field they play on. I find it quite trivial to complain about these changes. I completely understand the Bills and Bengals not wanting to continue the game after the trauma that was endured. Some tweaks had to be made because of that. I’m confident we can all be comfortable with it.

Then youre not reading the twitter comments.
I could also say if its trivial then they shouldnt even worry about changes & just go by the rulebook for cancelled games.
You cant have it both ways.

correct and they aren't two mutually exclusive thoughts
You CAN care about and have compassion for what happened to Damar AND think that the existing rules should be followed, updated in the offseason. It's not either/or

I don’t put much stock into Twitter, dc. It’s not a place I find that brings out the best in humanity. Clearly NFL leadership and a significant amount of owners felt change was needed for competitive balance in the AFC. No one could have predicted the events of Monday night, and hopefully we never see it again.

What about Zac Taylor:

"We have the opportunity to play for a coin flip that will only negatively impact us. We don't have the opportunity to play for a coin flip that will positively impact us. Let's just follow the rules."

I don’t think anyone likes what happened to Cincinnati. Myself included. I just don’t know how the rules could have been kept when you had two teams playing a game less. It tipped the competitive balance too much.

I agree, this is 150% unfair to the Bengals and Taylor has ever right to complain.

What I would like to see Clark Hunt do if the Chiefs do make it to the AFC Championship game and it's shifted to a neutral site....that all the associated staff that would have worked at Arrowhead stadium (and associated companies that run concessions etc) the staffing would be paid X amount of hours they'd normally work.

This still doesn't help local hotels, restaurants etc etc that are impacted by not being able to host a game. The other group impacted are season ticket holders having to travel and associated expenses.

I'm bring this up not to complain about the decision, but just to point out some groups other than the teams that are impacted if a game is shifted to a neutral site.

btw; Indy is out for the AFC Championship game...they are hosting a national volleyball tourn.

There’s some speculation they want it to be an outdoor stadium if a neutral site has to be used. The thought process is to keep it as similar as it would have been.

I agree in principle but there are already rules on the books. Why have them if you're not going to follow them? I know that these are awful, extraordinary circumstances but the rules are in place to address when something unexpected happens.

I think I'd like it to be a dome game....let the teams max out their efforts. That being said, there is something special about teams adjusting to the elements etc. Where do you think the Bills would want to play (neutral site)?

Sorry to all others.....not trying to be pencil in Bills or Chiefs like it's a done deal. If we see the Bengals (or another hot team) in the Divisional round (assuming we win tomorrow-not an easy game either)...I'm not as confident as previous years.
