Yeah, WB lost distribution rights nearly 20 years ago and Shout worked with Somerville House on this release.

I actually dig how the first 3 are all so incredibly different, 4 and 5 don't exist to me.
I like part II but i wouldn't buy it on 4K.

Count me in as someone who'd definitely buy Return part 2 on 4k. That iconic poster would look stunning on a slipcover and while it's not half as good as the first one, I've always enjoyed it. They released both of them on blu ray with matching artwork, it would make sense they'd do the same on 4k eventually.

Hoping for some nice surprises like Alligator and The Sword and the Sorcerer UHDs. Any reasonable possibilities similar to those two? Fright Night II would be on that level, I think.

Now that Italy was able to untangle the rights situations, I would be surprised if other labels have done the same thing in other countries. Something tells me we could see a Scream Factory release in September/October of this year.

Yeah. It's making the rounds this morning that apparently a "legit" release is coming out of Italy. I wouldn't be surprised if other countries follow with their own releases.

I just checked the CineMuseum site and there's zero indication that they have this. No chatter about it on Hi Def Ninja either. International rights may be controlled by other entities - my Mediabook copy from Germany is one of my most prized possessions. If the rights have been untangled, awesome. Maybe the news is just barely trickling out but, so far, I don't see anything official - just one guy on the Vestron thread speculating.

EDIT: Never mind - just saw the chatter on the regular Fright Night thread. Hope it comes to fruition. It's too bad it's one of those blink and you'll miss it preorders. These premium steelbooks are always a preorder bloodbath. They only make like 300 of these and they sell out in seconds.

I genuinely enjoy part II, even if it is kind of strange and nowhere near as good as the first. Fun fact, Comedian Doug Benson is in it in an early acting gig as one of the zombies seen here:

I don't blame folks for wanting upgrades, but as someone who doesn't intend on making the 4K switch, I also hope we get a better balance of upgrades/new to blu releases.

That being said...Scream has been packaging blus with the 4Ks so I wouldn't mind some upgrades of OOP discs...

The problem with SNDN is they weren't even able to give us the full film in HD, so at best we'd get the same scenes we got in HD in 4k and it would still have the non HD inserts, which to me is not ideal and would be more jarring switching between.

Upgrades are all I expect from Shout, with the occasional out-of-left-field premiere. The pickings are getting ever so slimmer, folks. There's also competition from an ever increasing roster of boutique labels. We're in the middle of karate mania the likes of which we haven't seen since the 70's so at least there's that for folks who enjoy those. And then there's the trickle of random exclusives but at least those are DVD to BD upgrades.

I'm ok with most of this. The Sonny Chiba set was my favorite release of 2022 and looking forward to their HK stuff. The limited releases are also pretty good and glad March is giving us some new stuff like Razor Back and Sorry, Wrong Number. Still, there really aren't that many major horror films left to release on BD, but a lot on 4K.
