Binged Vikings: Valhalla S1 yesterday and am now on S2 E4 of that. It took a few episodes to get used to it, but it's an awesome show. Will probably finish it today.

Speaking of Emily Blunt - she did a comedy caper film years ago called Wild Target with Bill Nighy and she was terrific with Matt Damon in the sc-fi film The Adjustment Bureau.

I tried to watch Extraction on Netflix last night. The quality of these streaming services is utter garbage and it's not even hard to see. Compression artifacts all over the place especially in action scenes.

Are they just limiting the bitrate too much? When I watch things through Apple, I do not see this problem 99% of the time. Same with Blu-ray, never see this issue 99% of the time (and when I do it's always old, early releases done in MPEG-2).

I'm on a 300up/300down fiber connection, wired with Cat6e ethernet cable from my switch into my Xbox One S, so I don't think it's a problem of my network bandwidth being too low. As much as I love the convenience of streams, I'm not willing to forego Blu-ray until they are going to bring the bitrates up.

Also, the bitrates of Netflix aren’t going to go up. Not now, not in 5 years.

Most likely the problem is between your ISP and the Netflix CDN. What streaming device are you using? If non Apple then you could check using the Netflix server test (see pic), do this during local prime time. This test is not available when using a ATV4K () but if you have a Mac then you could install Developer HUD (a PITA) on it to see a diagnostic screen.

At my location I have observed 25:1 change, a 6:00PM local time the check might show 250 Mbps and a check at 9:00 PM might be in the 10 Mbps range. A speed test to my ISP server during these times will be in the 250 to 270 Mbps range.

I'm also connected with Fiber at 85/85Mbps straight from the Switch on Cat5e to my UHD Sony TV, but I don't have any problems with my Streaming Providers like Amazon Prime, Disney+, Hulu, Netflix, or Vudu on Android Apps. My ISP uses CenturyLink to tie into the Telco Fiber Backbone. I get Rock Solid Streaming!

Two things, first stonesfan129 may have have his display setup to be more like a true video monitor so it does not disguise video aberrations. Second, you have never provided any proof of your streaming video qualities even tho the how to has been posted several times.

For Android (your TV) install and try this app for speed test. Run during your local prime time.

Laymen may be impressed with flowered answers but some would prefer more scientific and verifiable answers.

yes there is a lot that can play a role in how one arbitrary evaluates video quality. Including the person himself.
