That being said, the Hamm film is generally a much better representation of McDonald's character. The fact it didn't do well is disappointing, but it didn't seem like it was given all that much of a push by the studio. It didn't play theatrically where I live even though I would have definitely gone to see it on the big screen, and it's only now trickling out on disc. I guess that's just the way things are now when it comes to non-tentpole films.

I really do hope there's a way to overcome that, because I also would really like to see the series continue.
I love "Fletch Lives", too, and I don't think it's nostalgia. I remember being a bit lukewarm on it originally. I know I always liked it, but didn't hold it in THAT high of regard. When I watched it upon it's Blu-Ray release, I liked it way more than I remembered... or my memory was just spotty in the first place. Some of the bits in "Fletch Lives" are just as good (some maybe better) than the first movie.

For much of "Confess, Fletch", I loved it (well, except for the score. I can see why they wouldn't go with the original Faltermeyer themes, but did they have to go as far away from that as possible?). But, I didn't think the resolution to the mystery was anything great. Hamm was great and I'd like to see more - I just don't know how that happens, but, then again, I guess I don't know how well it did perform. That theatrical release was so limited that it was basically a straight-to-VOD release. Could it have made a profit through VOD and eventually getting sold to streaming services/premium channels? It had a 20M budget (with Hamm putting 60% of his pay back into it), so I guess it's possible.

I couldn't agree more. Fletch Lives is not a good film, but I will put the blu-ray on from time to time because it has some truly hysterical moments.

I loved the subtle nods to the original film in Confess, Fletch. I would have loved it if the original Faltermeyer score was incorporated into the soundtrack as well.

I'm a fan of the Chevy Chase films, so I was excited to see that it was added recently to Paramount+. I thought Confess, Fletch was a great addition and made me want to revisit some of the original books again (it's been a long time since I read them).

It would be nice if Paramount issued this on 4K, but since they appear to have little faith in the movie and consigned it to a very limited theatrical release, I'm not going to sneer at a proper Blu-ray release!

Count me in as another fan of the first Fletch movie who really enjoyed this new one. I'd love for them to continue Hamm's version for several more films.

You should get rid of those remakes you own then, like Carpenter's The Thing, Scarface, Coppola's Dracula, all of which "used material that had already been covered to much acclaim."

Ever heard of "Exception not the rule"?

Also note that I used the word "USUALLY" not always.

Sure.

Complain and judge for no reason except when it "fits" your agenda, then there's an excuse. It's almost like, since you make many exceptions to your "rule," you should watch before blankly judging with no knowledge of what you're actually complaining about.

"USUALLY" is a word that exists.

I can say you have an agenda to ignore that keyword to suit your narrative to be a jerk here, which you usually are. Never mind the fact that I followed up with my openness to eventually watching the movie.

To those who liked this film and came here to civilly discuss it, I meant no offense or intent to troll. It was just one man's opinion. Please carry on.

No worries, it's all good. I mean, in the end you're still a fan of the Chase films which I'm sure most people here will appreciate. And, yeah, don't worry about Bates Motel there. It's appropriate his initials are "BM" because that's what I liken 99% of his comments to.

The cover art/back cover art for this Blu is (at least on this site, Amazon (US) and Best Buy (US)) is the French Canadian version. There's a different UPC on the FC release. BB's site incorrectly uses the 191329243312 UPC instead of the 191329243329 UPC that's on the FC release.

Director Greg Mottola is writing a sequel based on Fletch’s Fortune.

…It may never get produced, but he’s writing it!

What's up with the $27.99 stupid price tag! Its not a 4K release, it doesn't come with a slipcover and has no features. The only extra is the HD digital code.

Down to $24.95 @ Amazon

The disc has no features, not even a trailer. The Paramount logo is nowhere on the case or the disc.

I pre-ordered mine from Target during their 20% off sale, so I ended up paying $21.99.

I don’t mind paying that because this movie was one of my favorites from last year.

I'm more than happy to support this movie some more. I saw it in theaters, bought it digitally months ago and now I've picked up the Blu.

Now green light the sequel!

I redeemed the code for Vudu and it came up as HD. I assume if I had redeemed it in iTunes, it would have been HD as well?

When given the choice, I redeem Vudu since other people that use my account have an easier time watching stuff through them instead of iTunes.
