I haven't bought any of the previous seasons of "The Walking Dead" series on blu for the same reason I didn't buy any of the "Supernatural" seasons on blu, because I just knew that there would be a complete series boxset (and I was absolutely right about "Supernatural" and purchased that beautiful boxset as soon as it was released).

I'll continue checking as I expect there will be an announcement about a complete series boxset for "The Walking Dead" at some point. It'll, no doubt, be a hefty price tag, but I'll just wait until it goes on sale probably next Black Friday.

It was my favorite show Seasons 1-4, absolutely appointment television for me. I had high anticipation for Sunday nights and each new episode. It started to lose its luster for me somewhere around Season 5, as I felt it started repeating itself a bit and too many of the interesting original characters were killed off, and replaced with much less interesting new characters. The low point was the season (6, 7?) in which they spent a whole half season being tortured and tormented by Negan. That was a really unpleasant viewing experience, and I will never sit through those episodes again. After that, I kept thinking, “it has to get better, I just need to stick it out”. Although by that point I was letting the episodes pile up on the DVR and getting to them when I could - usually months later.

I guess I stuck with that mantra through the last several seasons, because I like to finish things and because I felt I had invested enough time into it, and there were several bright spots in which it did get better - the season that introduced Alpha’s group, for instance. And several episodes here and there, though I don’t feel it ever attained the quality of the first four seasons again.

The last handful of episodes (which again were piled up on my DVR) were a real chore for me to get through. It was just the same old, tired story once again - fighting a seemingly unbeatable and cartoonishly evil human enemy while inevitably the walkers breach the safe zone and the carnage goes on. Darryl broods. Carol remains a badass. Several newer characters I never cared about are put in jeopardy. Wash, rinse, repeat.

I will say, however, that I did actually enjoy the finale. It was pretty well-done, and it was nice to see Rick and Michonne (and many other departed characters) at the end. I may watch the Rick and Michonne show, as I understand it’s a limited series and hopefully the definitive end of their story. I likely won’t watch the other spinoffs.

I know that’s a really long-winded response to your question, but there it is. I didn’t hate the show at the end, but I think it went on way too long and it was clearly being milked for every last drop. Less is definitely more and the over saturation of Walking Dead I think really hurt the franchise. Just my opinion, it was a good ride while it lasted!

There was a post a few weeks ago on Facebook from TWD page talking about Rick's spinoff show.

I made a post saying, thanks but no thanks, that I might watch the Daryl one if only to see where they take the origin story, but don't care about the other ones.

Not long afterwards I got a like from none other than Andrew Lincoln himself.

I agree. for me, the series finale was forgettable and far from special.

During the last few seasons there were sprinkled in some good episodes and some good moments in mediocre episodes. I had my DVR set and would watch them when it was convenient. There was never any urgency to see them, like during the first few seasons. I enjoy the whole zombie thing, so I watched.

I will also DVR the spin-offs and see how they are. My expectations are low.

Yeah, it's a bit of a fiasco at the moment:

Yeah since the series is over with now, the blu ray for season 11 shouldn’t be too much longer from announcement.

I am surprised it's on Netflix before any blu ray announcement usually the physical release is first they better release the final season you just never know now so many things not getting released. I'm sure if Fear is getting releases still though we are good.

And only one of which do I even remotely care about - curious to see what they do in terms of the origin of the outbreak in the Daryl spinoff - hopefully they don't drag that out for 12 seasons.

I'm sure they'll keep it going as long as it is profitable.

I watch so little TV of any kind (apart from blu-ray movies) that I will try all of the new (walking dead) shows. I'll DVR them because I can't be bothered to be in front of the TV when they are aired, nor do I want to sit through commercials; I love zipping past them on the DVR.

Eight seasons of Fear the Walking Dead is good enough. Most shows don't make it that far. Hopefully it has a proper ending.
