No, they are not really. Static (and false) DV meta data is a hack really. It might help with the symptoms of the borked underlying grade, but it's still a hack. But I thought we settled that by now.

EDIT: It's not real DV in regard to there not being "real" DV content - one could simply spoof the same static DV meta data values instead. Starship Trooper's DV is the equivalent of EMI changing a Beatles song from C Minor to E minor, the result being shit and then re-releasing the same E minor shit with a meta data which makes the processor, handling the meta data, make it sound like C Minor again. And I'm basically totally serious.

All this might be true - but on DV displays it does indeed "fix" the movie and looks great IMO.

For non-DV displays they ignore the metadata anyway so it's the same as the first disc.

I didn't argue about that. I even have the disc filed under maybe (not for the DV, but the better compression, because that's a minor itch). But even if I owned it, I'd still call it a total hack. Because that's what it is DV wise (if the static meta data is true). But the other guy seems to have a problem with people saying so.

I just think you're making a big deal out of a total nothing. You act like you're being ''lied'', ''scammed''.. who cares. You seem to be all about numbers and data and not what the movie looks like. You prolly must hate 4K upscales too.
