I'm gonna ad American Beauty to my list.
And Fight Club.
Pan's Labyrinth was a really great film, and it still is, it was able to show the raw power of cinema to me. I already really loved films, but after seeing it I just really really really loved films.
The Dark Knight, don't really know why, but it was.

You know you are correct sir, I forgot to list mine? Crazy. Where to begin?
Growing up we (meaning my family and I) never went to the movies. Times either were tough, or maybe it just wasn't what my father wanted to do. Anyway, when I was 15 I left home and started the summer of I believe 1991 living on the streets! Part of the time was spent sleeping in my girlfriends shed, and the other was at the movies.
At the movies I would sneak in, blend in, and spend almost the entire day there. I would see every movie it didn't matter what it was. Air conditioning, darkness to take naps, and sadly enough leftover snacks a plenty.
That summer I fell in love with the movies. Comedies, Action, Drama, Arthouse, Horror etc...I loved them all.
So for me to answer your question, it's all movies just about that have changed my life. They saved my life.
Wow dude, that's an amazing story!

Hey, I was homeless for a few years, I didn't live in the cinema but I did still managed to get out to the cinema . . . . well AVP was showing . . . . I still had my standards

Before I was made homeless, I was diagnosed with depression, the first thing I did was go out and buy every single comedy I could find, mostly uk tv shows like Red Dwarf - The Fast Show etc good stuff, that's when my obsession for films realy realy kicked off, constantly having (Good) tv and films playing really really helped distract me from thoses kinds of thought's you know?

Cool thread btw!

There was a time a few years back when I'd really lost touch with my own humanity. I'd had to shut so much of myself down just to survive what I was going through. Seeing 'Lord of the Rings' re-introduced me to my own humanity, and guided me through my despair to a greater understanding of the responsibility and the potential of the human individual. I look on it now as the most meaningful and inspirational work of literature (and film) in modern history.

TDK is great because ultimately, the hero is not Batman; the most heroic act is when Tiny Lister (the big black convict that takes the kill switch), tosses the trigger out of the ferry window. The movie inspires, because the point is that in spite of what we see and hear in the news, in spite of our most cynical impressions of the world around us, average people really are innately good and compassionate, even if we are usually pretty self-involved. History has shown many times that when their backs are against the wall, people usually pull together and help each other, it just "takes a little push".

Indiana Jones and the temple of doom. It got me into film making. I don't know how or why, but something about that movie fgot me into film.

Harry potter. I was a kid when it came out, it was my star wars.

Donnie Darko. It opened my eyes to what cinema can accomplish.

well you might think i'm kidding or something but in my case definitely The Matrix
yeah...that's the truth. At least in my Case.
Just Love the Idea of being controlled and not be able to say if its true or not, because if you wake up from the "dream" you can't come back again to tell it.
It's one of those movies where yeah everything is nice and scifi but in the end you can't prove it real or fake.

When I saw 'Lord of the Rings', I had this really profound feeling of "wow, now I know exactly how all those people felt in the 70's when they first saw 'Star Wars', now I want to drop everything I'm doing and try to get into making film".

That is really cool! (To bad I fell asleep during LOTR, but I totally get it)
