I can’t believe a Disney title as big as this isn’t getting a wide release.

What are y’all going to do if you’re not a member of the DMC? eBay?

Now with GWTW, Warner can put in a disclaimer before the start of the movie.
Yes, that's what I'm referring to although I don't agree with calling it that at all. Kissing without consent was the nice way of terming it since there are people who flat out call it rape or sexual assault. Nice to know they'd prefer Snow White stay dead rather than have the love of her life revive her. I'm curious if any of these people have ever kissed their romantic partner while they're asleep or kissed a deceased relative before burial. If so, by their own logic they ought to be locked up and branded as predators.

Let's hope they release GWTW one day. 2019 was probably still a safer time to release it than 2024.

Farerb's original post is still there, but the site admin took a different post by Farerb, which had an earlier date than yours, from somewhere else and merged it in to this thread. Then Deci edited that post with the same content as the other post. Since it had an earlier post date it shows up first.

I think most people are believing Disney Customer Service/Social Media reps that this is getting a full release and the DMC exclusive is exactly what it says it is as a Packaging/Format Variation Exclusive -- 4K/BD/DVD/DC instead of the expected wide release 4K/BD/DC version.

I'm pretty sure this is a brand new 4k HDR from the OCN, since the old HD master was a Lowry 2k done in 2004 and there's no way they'd upscale HD masters for film based titles (digitally finished stuff like BATB and Toy Story are different breeds altogether). TLM was one of the first 4k HDRs done back in 2016, since they had the raw scan files back when making the 2012 SDR master.

They had very recently completed and finalized 4k HDRs for perennial titles such as Bambi, Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty, 101 Dalmatians, Jungle Book, Mary Poppins, and The Aristocats. That's not to say they'll hit these all up with "the treatment", though SITS and Black Cauldron were totally new 4k HDR transfers and they weren't totally degrained to the point of water colors (the BD of SITS was criminally bad in that department).

I work as a nurse in the UK and I have witnessed a couple of times family members hug (maybe kiss) their dead. I'm usually there paying my respects to the grieving and handing out the bereavement booklet. If people are going to refer to this as kissing and hugging without consent, then common sense has left the earth.

I hope they get around to Alice in Wonderland as well. That one is a disaster on Blu-Ray in terms of all the mixed up colors.

I'm not surprised to hear it's common to see that in your line of work. In my experience the people who usually are the most ready to cancel others are also the ones who get the most upset when they fail to pass their own purity tests.

Pretty sure they did a new 4k HDR of that one too.

Once D+ upgrades these its a given the UHDs will feature the same transfers (but with better compression).

Similar situation of Pixar titles to get a 4K limited and general release in the UK.

It's good Disney is testing the waters but Disney UK is really bad at following Disney US/Canada/AUS/Japan steps in releasing 4k titles
Cinderella doesn't even have the Signature Collection logo on its cover, Disney are pretty much done with it or with collections in general because they don't even start a new one. At this point the vault is pretty meaningless.

I'm glad to hear that. Does that mean there are immediate plans for Disney+ to upgrade all the movies they made new 4K transfers of?

The vault isn't feasible anyway with Disney+'s existence. Unless Disney one day decided to remove some of the Platinum/Diamond/Signature titles from Disney+ as well and virtually vault them.

Probably over time. Depends on other priorities and remake/adaptation tie-ins.

I thought they ended the vault a couple years ago? Nothing has gone oop that I know of, except previous versions and exclusives.

I'm sure this isn't a Signature Collection, the last one was in March 2020 and that was just a 4K of B&TB, the last genuine one was 101 Dalmatians and Sleeping Beauty in September 2019... which were only 14 days after Aladdin. They seemed to just want to get them out and be done with it. They kind of came out quickly in general anyway.

They should've released the National Treasure movies as a tie in for the show but noooooo.

Not a big enough property, plus the new series isn't doing the numbers the old men in suits expected it do to.

They sure do play it on TV enough and put enough bother into putting them online, might as well tried to get some money from it. Plus they were supposedly developing a third.

Certainly a surprise to see on the store, artwork looks nice, might nab when it comes out.

All we can do is hope the transfer is good.

So even at cost they're still double.
Geoff,

If no one has offered yet to get this for you, I will. And I will do so at no cost. Just consider it an early birthday present.
