There are at least four current models of UHD Blu-ray players based on the MediaTek SoC (like the Oppo). Reavon here and Magnetar here. I believe Sony has discontinued their UHD Blu-ray players but some may still be available and they were MediaTek based also.

If one is willing to take the risk there is AliExpress with some models here.

I don't post here much but it's important that we stop this Physical Vs. Digital cat fights and enjoy whatever pleases us. There will always be 100s of other things to worry about in life. Both techs will co-exists at least for many more years to come and let's try to embrace, adapt and enjoy.

Would be nice if folks would do that but in my experience it never happens. Some of mine:

1" C vs. 1" B vs. 2" Quadraplex ● 16x9 vs. 4x3 ● 1920 x 1080 vs. 1280 x 720 ● ⅔" CCD vs. ½" CCD ● 8 Track vs. 4 Track ● 8VSB vs. COFDM ● Analog vs. Digital audio desk ● Avid vs. CMX ● Beta H-Fi vs. VHS Hi-Fi ● BetaCam vs. Type M ● Blu-ray vs. HD DVD ● CD vs. LP ● Dolby Digital vs. DTS ● DVD vs. DIVX DVD ● DVI/HDCP vs. DVI ● LaserDisc vs. CED ● LCoS/SXRD vs. DLP ● PCM 3324/3348 vs. Mitsubishi 32 ● Plumbicon vs. CCD ● Solid State vs. Tubes

In the US: I remember long after the FCC mandated 8VSB that some COFDM folks continued to constantly heckle those of us trying to help early adopters with their hardware, software and antennas. Here, it is very tame compared to what it was like on eTown in the days of DVD vs. DIVX DVD. Also quite heated in the days of Blu-ray vs. HD DVD at AVS. The same happened there as in, long after everyone got onboard with Blu-ray some continued to heckle us Blu-ray supporters. Have you ever watched this video? :

I think you are missing the point of the thread somewhat.

Watched Nope in 4K tonight. What a A/V feast! Stunning IMAX sequences and enveloping audio.

Really liked the film, 4/5 from me.

Have you watched Stagecoach yet? If so, thoughts?

Netflix by mail does not have it so would be a blind buy for me as well.

It's a good thing DVD Netflix is still available.
Redbox Stock is selling for $1.65 a share, so it doesn't look good for the Company. Their Kiosk have shrunk, and no one seems to be buying. Disc Rentals are on the way out!

Nope. Have a big backlog so it'll be a while before I get around to it. Will share my thoughts here when I do though.

Meanwhile, studios are starting to admit that there doesn’t seem to be much profit in streaming.

I wouldn’t be so keen to celebrate the demise of disc rentals if I were you.

There were too many people drinking the kool aid with digital movies rather than making the most of discs superior quality.

I have Disney+
I have purchased movies on iTunes
I have physical media.

Which of these do you think will last the longest ?

I used to think online movie services were a threat to physical media but subscription seems to be the significantly bigger fish and in my mind it's more of a threat to my cloud service collection (iTunes)

Online movie lockers are so irrelevant with the rise of subscription services. Most of my iTunes movies are available on a subscription service now and if they discontinued them it wouldn't really matter. iTunes still sells music too even though most people prefer a music subscription lately.

Only one of my kids is interested in inheriting the physical media collection and the iTunes movies have no survivorship benefits. My answer to this question would be I believe D+ will last longest because people pay for it by the minute and that's a very good business model.

True HT enthusiasts will continue with disc. Whether that’s 5 more years or 15 more years, I’m there to the end.

This is my third decade of collecting films on disc, it been glorious, it will continue to be imo.

I would be amazed if Paramount and Peacock aren’t swallowed up by one of the big 4 in the next year or two.

Don't quit your day job. You'll starve as a prognosticator.

There will be no swallowing. Peacock is part of NBC Universal. They are a big enough company to buy Paramount Global. That's the only way it would happen.

All they would do is go back to the business plan they used to have: license out their content to other streaming services.

Hark at the guy who keeps telling us cinemas will die and Disney+ will turn a profit next, next, next year (or by 2040 maybe)

You are not paying attention again Steedeel.

I dare you . . .I double dare you . . . to find a post made by me that states "Cinemas will die."

I have ALWAYS as in never waivered, said that ACCORDING to Disney on their Disney Plus Day 2020, Disney+ will be profitable BY EOY 2024.

So please - take your hatred and bullshit and peddle it some place else.

Disney WOULD say that.

You used that statement to back up your argument about the wellbeing (or otherwise) of Disney+ On a few occasions, so it’s only natural people are going to question that down the line.

By the way, don’t get so triggered. It’s only a discussion between two people with very opposing views.
