Interesting points. From Eccleston through Smith the BBC actually put some money into the show and it looked pretty good at times. Going forward, it remains to be seen if they'll get some of that sweet, sweet Disney money, or if the budget comes from the BBC only. The show will be competing with Star Wars, Star Trek, and all the other shows, so if it looks cheap most people will skip it. (And all the endless BB/Dalekbuster comments about how "it's the greatest thing ever" won't mean diddly.)

It doesn't exactly look cheap right now, and there is no evidence to suggest people are skipping it.
