guys, he understands he needs a receiver that handles 7.1 PCM.

His Onkyo 804 does have HDMI, but only handles 5.1 PCM.

The OP would like 7.1 PCM capability, which his 804 does not support...




In all honesty, I think you should keep the 804. It should matrix any 5.1 PCM into 7.1 via a listening mode (but not positive though). If you decide to buy a new device, I would buy a new receiver. Not sure I would settle for a refurbished 607 though. I would save a little more money and buy something brand new, and perhaps better.
