Disney Disney's The Little Mermaid (Live Action Remake)

Hopefully this one won't be derailed and locked.

Anyway, here's a new teaser:

We should reserve judgment until it's released and we've SEEN it.

People will vote with their dollars.

Worst that can happen is it's a huge flop and goes to Disney Plus and just adds more content on that channel.

Hard pass, hope audiences reject this so these ugly CGI remakes will finally stop or at least be banished to Disney+ for good since they’re at Disney Channel level of quality

The original is my all-time fav Disney film. I'll wait for D+ for this one. Unless it has changed, I'm still super angry they cast someone how can't sing to be Ursula and eliminated one of my fav songs from that movie. I read that a long time ago, so unsure if it changed any.

Like Avatar 2, not gonna give the mouse my $$ for this one.

EDIT: Still kind of shocked Disney ignored this one from their Superbowl slate. The first few teasers have shown little. Guessing Disney doesn't have much faith in this one.

The fact that all of the live-action remakes coming after Mermaid are gonna go straight-to-D+ is telling. Five years ago, Pinocchio would have been given a big-screen rollout.

Snow White is a theatrical release. And if I had to guess Hercules and Hunchback will be theatrical too.

If I had to guess, they will reduce the amount of big budget movies they produce for streaming.

And they should start with Fede Alvarez's Alien movie. Make it viable for a wide theatrical release. Thank you, Disney.

I'm glad this trend is starting to slow down, personally. Nothing really against these remakes, but when they were being churned out multiple times a year it was crazy. This feels like the first one in a little bit now and none are on the immediate horizon after.

Yeah, they have to reduce the budgets. Its costing them big bucks. Billions in losses. A lot of that is because the content sucks though. Disney needs to get back to what works. Solid, creative family entertainment with some cool action /drama films mixed in. Like to see what that someone in charge could do with Disney that avoided all of the BS & nonsense.

Off topic - what Alien movie? A sequel, prequel? Curious.

They have no choice but to slow down. Its killing their financials. Clearly, the MCU phase 4 didnt work so well. Star Wars was gonna be the next MCU but they effed that up. The animated stuff has been dodgy. They have to take a breath and get back to basics here, per se.

This mermaid remake? I dont see the point. Just watch the animated one but whatever. I bet it doesnt do so well.

Better look at Ariel, Flounder and Triton (in illustration form) thanks to a couple of Hallmark birthday cards:
