Really liked this, scope for an upgrade. I watched the existing Blu UK last year and it was a good viewing experience.
The extras were great. As a conscious experimenter of this form of art and a forthright iconoclast, I found Greenaway's take on the material extremely fascinating. He starts by dismissing Hollywood film making as largely a "Bedtime story", go out for a cinema visit in the evening and it ushers you to sleep as a pacifying, largely passive experience. I'd never thought if it in that way before but what he says is, in part, true and the way he expresses his ideas with no little personal charm, I didn't find it pretentious or elitist at all. So this is a newly recorded commentary it seems. |
