I really hope the packaging is like Marcel the Shell and Lamb instead of Last Black Man and Midsommar

1,000% the Green Knight was super cool but I would have much preferred the smaller size.

Yeah I just can't get down with the oversized packaging that doesn't fit in well with the rest of the collection

Same. I think the Midsommar one I have is a kinda neat oddity, but Marcel and Lamb are much more tasteful and sensible packages. They're still pretty classy too.

If this follows precedent, it will get the Midsommar-style packaging. All of the A24 Shop releases in the tall packaging had already been previously released on Blu-ray. The titles that were released in the shorter packaging did not have previous physical media releases. (With the exception of the first film in the Souvenir double feature.)

For the life of me I can’t understand what the appeal of this film is. I mean I know art is subjective and all but I honestly came away from this one saying what the hell did I just watch? I know it has a strong fanbase so I’m happy to see it getting a 4K release for those collectors but I think I’d need to be tied down to revisit this one myself. That said I bet it’ll look great.

Impeccable black and white film photography, killer sound design, one of the great character actors of our time giving a nigh slapstick performance while playing off of another great young actor playing the straight man. I can see why it's not for some but to me it's like a funny version of Persona with the gender roles flipped.

I disliked The Witch and only checked this movie out for the leads but ended up seeing it multiple times in theaters. Probably the last time a contemporary movie genuinely surprised me

All that I can appreciate, especially the cinematography, which I thought was excellent, but if there’s no cohesive narrative tying it all together and just a series of bizarre events with people screaming at one another it loses me despite the impressive performances. That said I’m not opposed to abstract filmmaking that leaves interpretation up to the viewer but Egger’s work outside the technical merits and what he gets from his actors comes off as a bit pretentious to me.

You're seeing and being thrown-off by surrealism (as intended) and then handwaving it as nonsense and it's not. Just because you don't understand it doesn't make it so. And before the "deep" card is pulled, no, no one's saying that. If you've sat and thought about it awhile and have nothing then I recommend watching the movie instead of saying that you did! There's plenty to interpret and discuss. It has its own visual language. I feel like I have a good grasp at what's going on, but I'm not entirely sure. As intended! (and I love that)

I think it's fair statement though. I liked the movie personally, but most movies are not just about visuals, but story, editing, acting, etc..So a movie could have incredible visuals/cinematography, but falter in other areas. The Haunting (1999) is like that for me. Great atmosphere/production design, but not a great movie otherwise.

This one performance speaks for itself. The acting is superb and the dialogue is well written.

Tell me you like me lobster? (Slight spoilers within the link)

I'll collapse the 5.1 to my center channel for that extra vintage feel.

Kidding aside (because a lot of people here can't tell sarcasm), if specific widescreen ratios weren't mandated by the studios, almost every kids animation wouldn't be in 1.85:1. Robert Eggers got lucky.

I'll rewatch it, but I didn't love it either. It was alright.

The size of the Midsommar 4K was setting off my OCD at first, but now that I also have The Last Black Man in SF and The Green Knight, I look forward to all future entries in this particular style.

Hopefully this is a good sign and 4K is catching on.
