I guess the 2 Wilders they did on 4K sold well enough to merit this one's upgrade

Surprising choice. It's a somewhat popular war film, but not one I expected to get 4K release, or one that I think would sell particularly well on the format.

Damn it... Just imported and watched the Eureka. Thought it was probably safe as one of the less cared about Wilders.

Really? I though this was one of Billy Wilder's best films.

I absolutely love this movie and I also think it's Wiliam Holden's all time best performance in a career with many great performances and films.

I wasn't talking about you and I or about how good the movie is. It has a much lower viewership than Sunset Blvd., The Apartment, Some Like It Hot, Witness for the Prosecution and Double Indemnity. Surprising pick.

Unfortunately, I feel the same. I'm a huge Wilder fan and a huge noir buff, but while I think it's very good, I don't love love it.

Yeah, but those are huge films. After the ones you mentioned and Sabrina, this has the highest viewership, according to IMDb statistics. It's #7 out of 26 films. Certainly not a less cared about Wilder film. That honor would go to The Emperor Waltz, Fedora and Buddy Buddy.

I just re-watched "Stalag 17" a couple weeks ago. The first time for my 15-year old daughter, she loved it. One of my favorite shots of all time is...

[Show spoiler] Just after William Holden has noticed the shadow of the swinging lamp cord. The camera is at the foot of his bed. He sits up straight in bed, looking at the shadow (but for us, directly into the camera), as the other POW's are behind him, singing and marching in line.

It's a great shot.
