After the 2 killers stabbed Chad and stood up and did the knife wipe in unison, that was a freaking awesome visual.

Man, once you guys warmed me about the clips showing up, anything SCREAM 6, I avoided like crazy.

The good:

FIVE killers, and killers killing other killers to open the film?

A character actually watches Jason Takes Manhattan at one point. Respect!

The subway and store scenes were very tense.

Melissa upped her game, as I didn't like her much in the last one, but she was great here.

The Bad:

I said after the first trailer that the Cop was clearly the killer. As soon as we found out Llianna was his kid, I knew she was in on it. Add in that they're referencing the killers backwards to Billy, who faked his own death, so that was such a no brainer.

The motive was kind of stupid. I get why, but it feels stale at this point in the series. DOesn't anyone use google on these people coming into their lives?

The ugly:

GET NEW DIRECTORS!!! These guys have zero balls. How do you have a slasher and damn near everyone survives??? Kill people off. This is getting as laughable as the FAST movies. Both franchises have no balls to let characters go. I let out a very loud UGH when Chad got wheeled out alive. Come on man.

Like Scream 2022, I left a mixed bag of thoughts on this one too.

I think the reveal would have worked better if they didn't let us know that Quinn was Detective Bailey's daughter. Having 3 random characters reveal their relation to each other during the huge reveal would have been more impactful and less obvious. Even if I hadn't had the killers spoiled, the moment they gave a connection between the two and that they had a dead male family member, I would have automatically assumed they were going to be related to Richie.

Overall, I did enjoy the movie though and while I need a rewatch, it's looking to be in my Top 3 of the series (1, 2, 6, 4, 5, 3).

I think I enjoyed it lol. I need to let it sink in. I will echo what others said though - some people need to DIE. I enjoy Chad as a character and actor but REALLY? If they talk about how the stakes are raised they need to show it.

Part of the reason why I kinda wish Chad had died. He was a great character in this, but that unison stabbing was so cool and would’ve been one of my favorite kills in the series (I don’t think we’ve ever seen a duo Ghostface attack like that).

Also, is it just me, or is this the most cold hearted Gale’s been in the entire series? Writing a book about the events that killed Dewey, and she didn’t seem to care at all when her new boyfriend was killed (I assumed it was a new relationship and of course Dewey’s the love of her life, but still) even agreeing with Ghostface’s quip that his muscles didn’t save him. But glad she got a phone call scene and epic showdown, as the film said, it was overdue.

I honestly thought the movie was pretty weak. For a horror/slasher it provided almost 0 scares and basically turned into a simple "who dunnit" with the cop being an obvious GF from the get go.

I'll prob get hate for this but I'm also sort of sick of the series almost forcing female killers into every movie. The first time they did it was awesome and a really cool swerve. Now it just feels forced to satisfy Gen Z.

What the **** happened to Kirby's character in this movie? Both her and Detective Baily (after the reveal) acted like cartoon characters...

Loved it. Went to the 5pm "fan event" in 3D, then 65 on the Atmos screen (save your money), then VI again in 2D. Could have used an extra kill or two, but I get the feeling they have plans to end this new trilogy with a bloodbath. Okay with saving a few newbies & "legacies" now to fill out the slaughter next time.

Also, I'm fine with the "typical movie crap" of someone surviving horrible stab wounds, because the killers also survive hits to the head that would incapacitate any normal human; in reality, that frying pan to the face would have chipped teeth, broken their nose & left a horrible bruise, at the very least, maybe even dislocated the jaw. We go to be entertained, not to see a documentary on realistic injuries. (And there was that scene where Quinn spit out a few chiclets after taking a brick to the face. )

Btw, the 3D was nice, but in an immersive way, no constant popouts or other distractions. Gave it a real "you are there" feel. Glad to have that option this time, will see it in 3D again next week.

Bring on part VII!

Man this was awesome when they don't just remake Scream 4 like 5 did. Felt like a legit new sequel.

But where the hell would Sydney even have fit in here?

I'm already seeing people act like the reference to Stu maybe being alive is somehow confirmation he's returning. As if it's anything more than poking fun at a stupid theory. I'm a huge fan of the franchise, but a decision like this would seriously sour it for me.

People seem to think he would be returning as an active Ghostface, would be much more interesting if he were paralyzed from the events of S1 & masterminding things from his wheelchair, or maybe they pull a Terminator 2 & have him be reformed and come to the rescue.

I just don’t care for the idea of bringing him back at all. It’ll be almost 30 years by the time we get to Scream 7 and while the series has some soap opera like moments, bringing him back in any capacity after all this time would top all of it. It would have been bad enough if that idea for Scream 3 made it into the final movie.

I also didn’t like the killer reveal. I feel like the whodunit aspect has been pretty stale in this series since part 3. I’m here for the meta stuff and suspense, which i think this does well

Yes it was, one of the best things in the film. There WERE things I did like, I liked the opening, the kills/gore was good, nice and sadistic and I liked the references to Letterboxd, the thanks to James and Chelsea was really nice, oh and Murder Party reference 10 on 10. Everything else I really didn't like. I mean, what the f*** was Dermot Mulroney doing? I know there's a history of overacting in the Scream films (Lillard obviously) but he was absolutely godawful.

Can Laurie Metcalf just cameo in "VII" already? With how much Sam sees the image of her dad screwing with her mental health, it's about time we get grandma, the best killer in the whole series, in on it, too, give how much she came up in this one (also, her first name actually being Nancy, that's a chef's kiss moment there).

I honestly had no issues with the reveals and the opening, even the survivors. Could it have had a little more teeth? Sure. But it's a subversion I honestly enjoyed and appreciated.

i think gale deserves a lot of credit for getting a book completed and released in less than a 1 year

She already managed to release a book which was adapted into a movie in just one year.

Scream 2 actually took place in ‘98 despite releasing in ‘97

Or it did until this film retconned it haha

I loved this. My favourite since Scream 2. Jenna Ortega is excellent, I love the whole cast and characters in general. I do wish they'd gone all the way with killing Gale, and I hear the complaints about Chad suriving but personally I like the Dewey throwback there.
