There are some very interesting things that happened in the Conquest of Westeros, 300 years before Game of Thrones, that I think could be awesome to see portrayed on the screen, but this just seems so silly and convoluted to do a prequel, and to then proceed to do a prequel to that prequel.

What would've made a whole lot more sense to me is they should've just started HotD back then to begin with, maybe even a little earlier, like around the Doom of Valyria, leading to the Conquest of Westeros, eventually leading up to where we are now with HotD's first season.

I mean, it's the same family, and it's essentially the same story, just beginning a bit earlier, and they're already incorporating huge time jumps anyway, so this would've just made perfect sense to me.
No one's going to sit through Jaehaerys' family drama.

Hence the time jumps, like they have already done, to get to the interesting stuff.
