You're right... I just checked to see what it would do.

But at least on my screen it's a tiny, red font under the "Add to Wishlist" button. Contrast this with Amazon's huge banner across the top of the screen with large font. Hard to miss. KL's implementation could easily slip by during the heat of battle^H^H^H^H^H^Ha sale.

Make the warning bigger, KL. It's nice that it's there, but it's not nearly obvious enough.

Man, my first order hasn’t even shipped and I’ve refrained from even considering a second until that one arrives. But I definitely want to and hope my wishlist holds to then. Jealous of people going pretty crazy right now.

UPDATE edit: It never, ever fails. I make a light complaint, a shipping notification email happens. Thank you for indulging this post.

Disable guest checkouts, make the warning more obvious, and put a multi day hold on accounts with less than, I dunno, 5 orders to give n00bs a chance to modify their order without having to disrupt warehouse processing.

The hold thing really works. It's just like when Outlook delays actually sending an email for a few seconds to give you a chance to cancel it and make a change. It's some quirk of the human animal that you only think of a problem AFTER hitting send.

I'm glad you're not in charge. These are horrible ideas.

How about folks take a deep breath, and stop panic-buying so quickly that they're buying shit that they already own? I don't think user errors like that are deserving of a refund, and I don't think hours of developer time should be spent on features that only exist to protect careless or foolish people from themselves.

Before this gets lost in the shuffle, a reminder that there is always a SALE THREAD and it's the perfect place to discuss any of these things:
- List of what I might buy
- List of what I did buy
- List of what arrived
- Order approved notifications
- Order shipped notifications
- My order hasn't shipped yet
- Shipping carrier delays
- Shipment has arrived
- Complaints like: Why are they so slow / I never got an email / The site said in stock, so where is my order

I've placed about 100 orders with Kino and shop everywhere and I've never felt a need to post most of these things because sales always get backed up yet orders always arrive.

Your complaint was unfounded and your suggestions unwanted and unnecessary. You claim that the "hold thing" really works, but can you cite example of small to medium retailers who offer it and it's working for them? I can't even think of a single boutique I've bought from that would ever offer than because stock can be so limited and complicated, especially during busy sales.

I was just reading about Guest Checkout and here a few highlights:

Anyway, make the font bigger on your current warning. Consider sorting the list of orders to be filled in descending order on total lifetime orders and put a three day hold on orders place through a guest account. This will go a long way toward eliminating order modifications.

Resume your uninformed critique.

White Squall is such a great movie! I've seen it multiple times, and the Kino disc is absolutely superb in every way. The film has never looked better on home video. Kudos to you for picking up a copy of this hidden gem. I very much doubt you'll regret it. Enjoy!

This is a perfectly good way to drive away new customers, if that's your intention. Anyone placing their first ever order will end up being among the very last to get their order picked, and any existing customer placing a new order in the meantime will push theirs back even further. It only takes a bad first up experience for a new customer to never return.
