The user who started the previous thread appears to be rarely active on this site now, having only posted 3 times this year. Additionally, the old thread has not been updated since 2021.

As such, I'm restarting this thread with the intention of keeping it more up-to-date. Please comment below with any new editions and I'll add them.

List of UHDs that include a NEW Blu-ray. New master, new bonus features, or released by a new studio.

* The Matrix - One review on this site says: "Warner seems to have opted for a poor SDR conversion made out of the HDR UHD disc... and it looks terrible. Luminance is all over the place: white tones are brighter than they should be, contrasts are completely washed out and color grading looks nothing like Bill Pope's cinematography (I mean from the 2004 re-issue mastering). It could have been a very strong disc, but this is just unwatchable."

* World War Z - New 4K master on a remastered blu-ray for theatrical cut only. Extended cut is included on blu-ray, but not derived from the new master. Blu-ray and 4K discs include a 5.1 audio track, while Paramount's original release included a 7.1 track.

* Batman Begins - NOT included on the list because: "Batman Begins does NOT use the newer 4K transfer for the pack-in BD, it's the previous transfer given a new AVC encode and DTS-HD 5.1 audio (old release was VC-1 and Dobly TrueHD 5.1)."

* Lara Croft: Tomb Raider - NOT included on the list because: "It should be noted that the new Tomb Raider disc uses an old 2009 AVC encode however. The lossless audio is new though."

* Prestige (non-US, WB not Disney) - NOT included on the list because: "Prestige is not a new master, it's a re-encode that does improve on the UK's original release (codec) and the US's original release (bitrate), but it's the same old master."

This thread will help me out a lot since my Sony chokes on most BD100s, at least I will know if the BD comes with a new master.

To my understanding, it's sourced from the same 4K restoration that the prior Arrow disc was.

However, it qualifies as a "new" blu-ray, since it's a new disc from Kino, with different bonus features than the Arrow.

The 4K disc is, I believe. The BD is the old stretched MGM master to my understanding. That was really disappointing to me. May have different audio, I don't know.

The new included regular Blu-ray is based on the same brand new 4K restoration as the 4K disc counterpart and will even include the French Dolby Atmos track in it too. This should be a huge improvement over the mediocre previous Blu-ray release that Shout did two years ago.

The Star Trek The Next Generation moves on 4K come with new blu rays soruced from the 4K masters. Even contain 7.1 audio mixes as well.

The release has new bonus features, which is why it is included in the main list.

I have however added a note beneath the title. I intend to eventually do this for the entire list, it's just time consuming.
