I am in need of advice, I really feel like my theater room is lacking something. I just can figure out what to do next. I was intrested in probably getting a new BR player to replace my PS3, I am just one of those ppl that get bugged by the TRUEHD & DTSHD not lighting up in my receivers window. Or a second sub, I would get another supercube 1 but i feel the one is enough, would it make a drastic difference? A power conditioner? I do have a Monstercable surgeprotector but would the power conditioner serve a better purpose? Oh and my PJ is already hooked up to a Battery back up, the conditioner would be for my hardware.
Or just look at my theater and tell me what is lacking, or what you would do differently. I plan to update the pics, as of yesterday I rewired everything and cleaned it up some. I even put the center channel on top of the stand. After seeing other setups in here I just feel I am lacking something, although I am still happy with my setup. Just chime in plz. ![]() |

If you want to enhance the sound , add an amplifier . The receiver has to have pre outs on back ! A power conditioner is A good thing , Better than A power strip ! It look's good !! |

glad you said you moved the center channel up more, that was going to be the first thing I recommended. Not sure if you did or not, but you might want to get some foam or some rubber feet under the center channel to isolate it from the stand itself. Not going to be night-and-day difference, but will help the sound.
Power conditioner would be a great addition to your theater, I think everyone should own one. Most of us have the APC H15 due to the low price. Another subwoofer would be my first recommendation, then amplifier, then BD player. Another sub will add so much to anyone's HT, it really is a fun thing to play around with two subs. Maybe check out the Acoustic Audio subs that many people have jumped on. Won't break the bank, but will work great for the second sub. Check the subwoofer forum for more details. |

All of the above are solid suggestions, but the one I like the most is the addition of a Power protection unit like the APC-H15. You already have a substantial investment in your HT setup, now is the time to make it stay protected and safe. This, of course, won't do anything to improve the aural and visual experience (although some say they have noticed a slight improvement), it will give you peace of mind.
I might suggest another options as well, which has not yet been mentioned, and this may bring out some nay-sayers. I would look at upgrading your L/R/C speaker cabling. Even a modest upgrade in said department will yield tremendous results and you'll find your speakers becoming more alive and clearer. If the fact that your receiver does not display the TrueHD and DTS HDMA codecs when activated continues to bother you, then seriously look into the Oppo BD-83 Blu-ray player. As long as you use your PS3 for BD viewing you will not get the codecs used properly displayed. Keep the PS3 for gaming and get the Oppo. The additional benefit of this unit is also that it plays DVD, CD, SACD, DVD-A, etc. I can't comment on the sub-woofers as I do not have one. I've heard it said however that 2 or more subs are a definate advantage and should thereby yield better results in a system. Regarding a separate amplifier, I concur wholeheartedly that adding one is a great way to go. If a 7-channel amp is too rich for you, start with a 2 or 3-channel amp for your front soundstage. The difference in sound quality should be substantial, as many here can attest to. Anyway, that's my logic on the matter and I hope it has provided a little further insight. John |
