People on this thread and this forum need to stop bickering against each other, and one of the ways to do that is to STOP using GAY as a perjorative adjective.

This post CREATED a bunch of posts countering such notion that a) only gay people would watch Harry Potter movies or b) that HP movies are subvertly gay.

If BTBuck1 wrote:
would that sentence make any sense? Would it make more sense when you change "straight" to "heterosexual"? It doesn't.

I believe most people who use "gay" in those context meant "lame" or "bad".
I cannot decipher what BTBuck1 really meant in his post, however.

If the movie is bad or lame, use "bad" and "lame" to describe the movie. Don't use "gay." If the movie is bad or lame AND the movie has gay content subvertly or overtly, say it clearly: "That gay movie is bad" or "That gay movie is lame."

Regardless of how hip the English colloquilism is and your using it to be hip, recognize that using "gay" to mean "bad" or "lame" to describe something is subtle homophobia on your part.

The mods will tell you that you shouldn't discuss politics, racial issues or religion here if you want to be condenscending or hateful. Sexual orientation should be added to that list.

fuad

in the uk it seems that the spelling 'ghey' is prefered so as not to offend the man-loving men in the viewing audience...
