Sorry about my part in that ..A similar thing happens to me.with the Noir thread, where something is announced by Kino for example, well before it actually gets a database entry or cover art, so it slips through and I forget to add it.

Apparently the reason why the elm street box set is taking so long to release is because they need to re-digitise a lot of the effects? This includes 4K restoration on all the title font sequences? This is 100% rumour but is what I heard?

I just wish Shout did what other labels do and select a date they announce titles. It might cut down on early leaks, or in the case of Arrow, just leak a day or two in advance.

PS - Keep up the good work!

Youtube isn't a good source if that's where you heard this. Let me guess: The DiscFather told Mid Level Media? Lol.

These films don't need that kind of work. Besides, I don't see Warner going through the effort or expense of such an endeavor anyway - not for these films. The studio just isn't interested in the series and they don't seem interested in licensing out the franchise. We lose both ways.

I wish they would at least do the first one on 4K like Paramount did with Friday the 13th.

Apparently the latter sequels have very specific early 1990’s SFX that require specialised remastering for a proper 4K release. Again, 100% rumour, but if you think about it, if you’re going to remaster the effects in the latter sequels, in 4K HDR, it’s going to require resources and time. Again, 100% rumour.

It's a good source if Michael Felsher is the one providing the information. He'll be involved in the special features for the individual films or box set. As of right now he's not hearing anything from any of the labels regarding a box set, it's all just speculation as of right now.

Do the early CGI effects all need to be re-mastered again when doing a UHD 4K? The latter sequels are full of these, which would require a lot of work done. I’m sure they can use some of the work already done for the BluRays, but maybe not and they need to start all over again.

They could just do the first 2 movies in UHD since they don’t have CGI and leave the other ones for later, but then again, I guess it’s the appeal of the box set.

I don't believe visual effects are done on the OCN. I think it's the IP, or something like that. So, there's a generational degradation in optical effects and other stuff. I think that's why Lord of the Rings in an upscale.

Wow so they didn’t go to the OCN for LOTR? That’s very interesting. I’m guessing also this is why they’ll never go back to the OCN for Evil Dead 2 because of the exiting SFX done on the IP? Interesting, this has raised my questions for me regarding scans that are done from the OCN. For eg the upcoming “people under the stairs” is a 4K scan of the OCN. Did they have to re-digitise any shots with CGI effects? Or is it a matter of the OCN being used only when there’s no CGI?

They just have to scan the negatives.

I'm not 100% sure about it. I know that Nolan has them use the IP for their UHDs.

Wow, so the recent Evil Dead 3 UHD from Scream Factory was sourced from the OCN, yet that has a bunch of CGI effects.

It's also pretty recent, so they probably had those effects in a computer hard drive...?

Felsher also didn't "hear anything" about Trick or Treat when asked. A few months later the film was announced. Bottom line: don't believe everything you read

That was over a year ago on the same channel.

Was CGI even a thing yet in 1993? I don't remember any computer effects in Army of Darkness. Maybe I'm misremembering.

Amazing, I wonder if they can get a 4K scan of the OCN for part 2. I believe the current UHD is from an IP?

Shooting”

Terminator 2 was 1991.
