Really didn't care for the first one at all, made it through once but couldn't force myself through it a second time. At least this is one less 3D movie for me to not worry about.

In the minority I guess, but I loved the first one. Psychedelic animation introducing chromatic aberration (like an out-of-register print comic book), halftone textures, vivid colors with consistently medium 3D imho. Rotten Tomatoes audience score of 93% and reviewers score of 97%. Won an an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and is pretty universally hailed as groundbreaking animation. Everyone’s tastes are different and valid, but I’ve rewatched this one several times and am crossing my fingers Across the Spider-Verse shows up in 3D … and is as eye-popping as the first one!

Yeah I borderline hated the first movie but I only saw it once years ago and have tried to rewatch it a few times since but couldn't get more than 10 minutes into it. I'm not really a fan of animation generally anyway so that doesn't help (although I make an exception for the Spielberg Tintin movie, Beowulf and some animated Christmas movies).

There's plenty of movies with great reviews that I dislike and countless movies with terrible reviews that I love so I'm used to disagreeing with the critics (and with most non critics ha ha).

I’m with you. I rate it pretty high up on my Spidey list. Absolutely loved the movie.

The haters are definitely in the minority on this one. An extremely refreshing, exciting, unique animated experience, and a sizable hit too. And it deserved it. F**king great movie all round.
