Default Apple cant hang with Microsoft?

http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-...16-717919.html

Basically says that Apple asked Microsoft to stop running the ads comparing windows machines to Apple notebooks.

Maybe Microsoft should start making ads where the guy in the suit says, "Apple costs twice as much," and the nerdy Apple chump start crying and throws a fit and runs off screen saying that its unfair to talk about price.

I have to agree. Every time I'm in the market for a new computer, I check out the Apples, then realize I can get the same or more on a Windows PC for a fraction of the price.

That's kind of funny. I myself am an Apple fan. I find their OS easier to use, but they are expensive as hell. I've been wanting a Macbook for a while, but I don't have the $$$ for it. On the other hand I could go in Wal-Mart and get a pretty darn good Windows laptop for like $600. The cheapest Macbooks start at $999 and only have a 13" screen. If they want to be more competitive, maybe they should price their products competitively.

So let me get this straight......

Apple thinks it's unfair that Microsoft is comparing their laptops......yet its ok for Apple to put out these "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" ads?

Am I missing something here?

What annoys me is have you ever noticed that in just about every frickin' movie that shows a computer it's ALWAYS an Apple?

Apples are far superior products that have much better hardware and reliability. We (well most) know this though.

The price just hurts. 'Tis the only reason I have a PC right now.

This is complete BS. If compare what's available out of the box at the store, I would agree, but a custom PC will outperform a Mac any day. Furthermore, if you're looking at "bang for your buck", a PC is still the way to go. If you want a machine to turn on, turn off, use installed software with and surf the web, a Mac might be for you. If you own a PC and you've taken it to the Geek Squad, you don't have the aptitude, and a Mac might also be for you.

Mac, like MacDonald's, tastes the same wherever you go. What if I want to choose the case, monitor, keyboard, mouse, hard drive(s), power supply, cooling system, DVD drives, BD drives, processors, motherboard, video card, sound card, clock speed, etc? Can you dual boot a Mac?

Yes I have noticed that. I get a kick out of it sometimes, but it seems like every computer I've seen in a TV show or movie for months now has been a Mac.

On second thought, I think there's one exception, and that's NCIS.

For the most part I see your point, but I believe you can dual boot a Mac. Assuming you have also installed Windows on it that is.

This thread is starting off precariously. I wish people would just get it straight: neither operating system is better than the other! They both have their benefits and detriments. Being someone who works with/on Macs AND Windows-based computers ALL day, EVERY day, I can say this with the utmost confidence.

The argument that "a Mac isn't as powerful as a PC" is ridiculous, as is the "PCs crash more than Macs" argument.

I will say that Apple whining about the Windows commercials is pretty lame, though. Apple is the king of condescension, especially toward anything flying the Microsoft flag. If you're gonna dish it out, you'd better be able to receive a bit, too. They come across as poor sport-ish in this instance.

They are much more expensive but I really have enjoyed getting a mac, and feel that its worth the money for the quality you get, But as far as hardware for buck mac isn't on par with pc's.

I love'm both but If I wanted raw power or gaming, PC would win hands down I know my MBP came in at right around 3000 with tax. Not so practical when the average spender can come close to my specs for 800-1000 and Unless your around computers you probably couldn't tell the difference.

That's just because that's what you're noticing. I'd be willing to bet that just about every computer you "actually see" in movies or TV shows is really a PC, but the fact that Apple brands their products so distinctly makes you notice their computer more when you see the glowing apple. I mean just think of how many computer screens you see in movies; any of them that does not have the glowing apple is *likely* a PC.

It's hard to put into words exactly what I'm trying to say, so hopefully you get the gist.

As a comp builder and software developer I'd be really interested what exactly is much better hardware. Apples have exactly same intel CPUs, same memory, same hard drives, same DVD drives, no bluray, Apples get latest video cards with significant delay, and all that at higher price at that.

So, if under much better hardware you mean brushed aluminum case with half an apple on it, then yes U got it...

One would think knowing that you overpaid for the same hardware would hurt too, but Apple does wonderz...

I have noticed that its much better in that department. I've had to reboot once since I got it last year as an x-mas gift. I still have to reboot my pc every couple days.

But I like them both and I'd use both and do use both for different things.

Ha Ha!
Apple can sling it, but can't stand it when it gets slung back at them.

Bag of hurt indeed.
