Oh I didn't even notice that. That's cool. I haven't seen any of his movies. I wonder if it will pick up from the previous movie or be set in between earlier ones.

News reports so far state that no director is attached yet. They will most likely bring back Wilson Yip to direct but that remains to be confirmed.

Yip Man's story concluded in part 4 so the only sensical way to continue his story is to set it before part 1. His upbringing, him mastering the art of wing chun, struggles in society etc.

I'm honestly no longer keen in Donnie doing more Ip Man movies unless they pull off something special, such as casting another big name in martial arts action movies. I'm rather interested in the other two projects that came with the announcement of this movie: Misjudgment, and Flash Point: Resurgence which are contemporary action movies.

Couldnt they do this focusing on his son and then have flashbacks with IPman himself?

Or as others have said focus on IPMan learning Wing Chun idk seems like a cash grab to me, just give me the first 4 movies in a Steelbook in 4K
