Because the HBO Max app uses Apple’s own proprietary video player whereas the Max app does not.

Again, you’re not going to see the HDR or Dolby Vision indicator because your video settings on the Apple TV are probably set at 4K SDR with Match Content and Frame Rate. Having your Apple TV set like that will let the Apple TV do the work in terms of making everything match correctly when playing content. But any app, like the new Max app or Peacock, that uses their OWN proprietary video player…you have to switch the Apple TV video settings to 4K with either Dolby Vision or HDR10 on AT ALL TIMES to make sure the content is playing in 4K. It’s an annoyance.

very interesting do you think they will fixed removed continue watch afterwhile when you click on a show in continue watch box it will still have little edit pencil thing you and then remove it or do you think that will never get fixed that was in hbo max app, like i said i didn't know how heck removed tv show because it didn't show it had to press a button remote control somehow made it go away in continue watching

my settings is 4k hdr chroma 4:2:0 both range and frame rate are turn on so again am not sure what is going on

When the HBO Max app debuted, it used its own proprietary video player as well. Enough people complained and they switched it to Apple’s. Netflix did the same thing as well before switching. I imagine that the new Max app will make the switch eventually.

ok so do you think because like i can watch disney plus and its show hdr well hdr 10 that maybe there are some bugs and despite description and perhaps afterwhile when they finished doing update it might show hdr again top of my 4k tv or do you think will still not going to show it

HBO Max was MUCH better



Max seems to be complete crap. HBO Max was so easy to use. Max is a turd. It's just a turd out there.

The things I liked best about HBO Max are gone.

I imagine, like when the HBO Max app first debuted, things will get adjusted over time. I imagine this new app is the same across all platforms and devices. WBD will adjust to each platform and device had the months go on, like they did with the HBO Max app.

Yeah. It is also on the home page. But that is only 30 movies. We want the full list, like HBO had it.

Are there service issues right now? I got the new app on my iPad and iPhone and signed in and now just keep getting “an error occurred” when I click “start streaming”.

I'm wondering the same thing.I watch my streaming services on my computers.

BUT! I'm getting Something Has Gone Wrong,Please try again later on certain things.

Some things will play but some things I get the above message. Or when i click on a tab,I get it..

I'm assuming more bugs.

Now everything is getting the Something Has Gone Wrong,Please try again later when I try to watch something or click a tab It basiclly worked for a few minutes.

I'm looking on Max's twitter and in some of the threads others are reporting as having some of these same problems. First with the start streaming button with and without error messages(which eventually worked for me)and then error message when trying to watch something or clicking on a tab to open something.

I've tried watching some things once more.I t worked for a bit again but then I get the error message at other times.

I went to my laptop,it worked on both Microsoft Edge and Google Google Chrome.I went to my desktop which only uses Chrome.It worked for a bit then I started getting the error message when trying to watch something or click a tab.

Went back to laptop again, worked on both browsers again for the minute or tow I tried.Went back to desktop again ,got the error message again trying to watch/click tabs.

None are upscales, all are 4K DV proper as a 1/3 were already 4K DV before the Max relaunch. The others are using the 4K DV masters previously made but never on streaming on demand.

Me too - for HBO Max, Criterion Channel, any service that has it.
