I took the hit getting the iTunes release a few weeks back, so I'll be starting a GoFundMe to ease my pain ...

You're welcome ...

The only disappointment here is it's not Arrow or Shout! who would give us news extras. But, I never got around to buying the Blu-ray. So, this will be an easy upgrade.

I've held off on buying the bluray because this was bound to come. Glad I saved *checks notes* $10.

Woot!

Oh, and I just got Six String Samurai for $40.

Since it is Paramount I would say the chances are good. If it was coming from WB it would come out on Nov 1st.

Are there any screenshots of the digital 4K version? I'd be curious to see how different the grading is compared to the Blu-ray. The DVD/Blu-ray master looked far too flat and dull. A showing of an original print I saw a number of years ago looked far more striking with a lot more shades of blues and cyan in the night scenes. Scenes set during the day looked far more vibrant while maintaining the greyish muted look. It's pretty sad that so many of these films which utilized silver retention haven't really captured that look at all on home video.

So excited for this!

I really hope Paramount includes the deleted scenes and an Atmos track. To me, this news is going to be hard to beat, at least until Titanic drops later this year.

Not sure about that Atmos track. Paramount likes to play roulette with its movies.
The MI franchise got their old audio tracks and no upgrade.
The Haunting, a movie that thrives on sound, wasn’t upgraded either.
Event Horizon didn’t get a new track
Mad Max 2 and The Untouchables, however, did get an upgrade.
I think everything Steven Spielberg with Paramount got an Atmos track.

And it’s not even a bad thing. Those older tracks sound good already

Yes, but I feel Atmos would really kick up the thunder effects throughout the movie to add a bit of overhead emersion. I won't be disappointed if it's the same 5 1 mix. The 5.1 TrueHD track on the Japanese disc is very nice.

The fact that The Haunting won't be getting a lossless version of the DVD's DTS-ES audio is a shame. That track was reference! It definitely should've been given a new mix.
