After all the foreplay, I guess it’s JuliaX today! Let’s make it a watch party!

Strong 3D from the sound of it then. My Bloody Valentine having mostly strong 3D throughout. Thanks.

I gave it ( Julia X) a re-watch last night and there were a lot more pop-outs, forward of the screen shots than I remembered, the front end of a Chevy SUV being particularly impressive.
May give Nurse a viewing tonight.

I remember being very disappointed with Nurse.

Last edited by Damon1281; 10-24-2021 at 11:42 PM. Reason: Julia X was cool, though.

I'm sure I was disappointed in the movie [Nurse] as nothing is as graphic as you are led to believe by the subject. I don't remember the 3D and I promised myself not to revisit the movie. It's been awhile.

American Mummy was so bad I was mad that I lost that time. I find it far-fetched that anyone found the movie interesting regardless of the 3D.

Fair enough, the 3D is quite good if you can get through the content, agreed I didn’t get through American Mummy either, never thought I could get cheated out of $3 investment.

After giving up on Amazon shipping prices to drop, I bought The Hole used from Germany 3rd party seller (cheaper shipping than amazon, go figure) Finally watched it, only thing I wish I'd known, a slight flaw, the German subtitle appears onscreen when the kid plays the video game translating what's onscreen... Not a big deal, but bugs me enough to find a copy from somewhere else.

I screened Sadako 3D for some friends last weekend. They rated it as the best 3D I've ever shown them. For reference, that includes Doctor Strange, Thor Ragnarok, and Pacific Rim. Although one friend maintained that Madagascar 3 was still better.

I myself might not rank Sadako 3D as one of the best 3D films, but I would say it's one of the most appropriately 3D films. The Ring/Ringu series was already about an evil ghost who pops out of TVs to kill her viewers. It's almost weird that this series wasn't made in 3D to begin with.

3D popouts pair perfectly with horror jump scares, and every jump scare in Sadako 3D made my guests flinch. The format enhances the horror, and the horror enhances the format. It's essential 3D.

I wish the sequel didn't go OOP before I had a chance to snap it up.

The 3D isn't as strong in the sequel but it's still worth a look if you can find it.

Generally mild fish tank style 3D throughout but impressively strong 3D for the spooky and scary moments. Quite a different movie to the first one, I was very impressed that the subtitles were positioned as not to clash with the pop-outs, of which there were enough to make up for the stretches of Disney-style 3D. And they were good pop-outs too, all the way to the very end. There was a lot that came out right into the middle of my living room and I didn't get any ghosting either (unlike with the first one) so this one's a thumbs up from me overall.

For no english subs, I'm not sure it's worth it.

I ordered the HK edition with english subs back in June, but it got lost in the mail and I spent the last two months finessing a refund from eBay. I held off on reordering it from YesAsia until I got the refund, by which time they sold out of it.

In Los Angeles, the New Beverly Cinema often hosts horror marathons. The films are kept secret, only revealed when their title cards unspool onscreen.

In tribute to the Bev, I hosted a 3D Horror marathon last October. I also kept my setlist secret, but it already happened so I can share it here:

Foxed 3D (short)
Coraline 3D (feature)
Spooks! 3D (short)
Sadako 3D 2 (feature)
Red Flags ft: Montaigne 2D (short)
Braindead 2D (feature)

I had 8 friends attend and stay for the whole event. I've already started planning a second 3D horror-thon for this year's October, but I won't reveal the setlist until after the show.

I played Flesh for Frankenstein 3D (1973) for some friends last year, and it went over pretty well. Started the show with 3D trailers for La marca del hombre lobo (1968) and Viy (2014) and the 3D music video "Kiss Me Dracula" from Dracula 3D (2012). Tried to stay within the theme of European co-production Gothic Horror.

Ooo I forgot about that music video. That’s going in my 3D shorts rotation.

Where did you acquire the 3D trailer for Viy?

Viy 3D trailer is on the German Blu-ray 3D for Viy (Region B locked).

Kiss Me Dracula got some laughs. One of my friends is a big Argento fan, and that's one of his only unseen films.

Some recent favorites:

I didn't see Amphibious or Hybrid mentioned (I probably missed them in earlier posts). Amphibious is excellent native 3D as many already know... Hybrid (a decent conversion I've heard) haven't watched yet, but it's on my list.
(I have to just mention how happy it makes me that whoever created the artwork for the Amphibious cover thought the 3 star rating awarded was worth boasting about... LOL)
Halloween Jack is probably the best for me just because it's such a unique sleeper, a gem for us 3D lovers! I never would've thought a micro budget indie flick like this would be so much fun and the 3D is reference level... pop-outs galore. I know I said all this before but the 80s synth soundtrack is so nice, and the opening titles that pay homage to Friday the 13th III are so much fun.
The Final Destination movies... well I can't say much that hasn't already been said but they're obviously reference quality native 3D, plentiful with bloody popouts and I absolutely love the lenticular covers!

On a side note I have to mention that Bloody Mary 3D wins my own personal award for worst quality native 3D film I've seen thus far... I have heard it was shot in 3D but it's kinda hard to believe, it's virtually flat to my eyes. Several members have said that Sex Pot is the bottom of the barrel for worst native 3D and that may hold up, but I found some shots on that movie to be at least ok... I would say Bloody Mary is even worse than SP, I would rate the bad Cemetery Man conversion higher in terms of 3D quality than BM (a fitting acronym).
I could stand the low budget nature of the movie if it had nice 3D but lord it's bad! The only redeeming qualities for me are the opening scene with a Sapphic love sequence which didn't hide anything... and it stands alone as the only 3D movie in existence (that I'm aware of) featuring adult film star Ron Jeremy. Oh boy!

I find it hard to judge Bloody Mary because the German 3D Blu-ray is censored so heavily that it actually makes the whole film unwatchable.

I just bought the last remaining copy of HALLOWEEN JACK 3D from
it's website. Had a pleasant email exchange with the filmmaker.
Really looking forward to it. I'm always interested in micro-budget
independently-made genre films especially when they're in 3-D.
