Yeah I read about the burn in somewhere and I guess it has only been a day with them so I shouldn't be so quick to judge but I am happy with them and hopefully it will only get better. Thanks

Burn-in is thought of so seriously amongst some audiophiles that they resort to purchasing very expensive "cable cookers" to burn in their cables before use. Now that's what I call total commitment to the sound.

I have one on order that should be here shortly. People that have been using these units for years swear by them. Personally, I have found that cable performance improves with burn in. The "cable cookers" accelerate the burn in process dramatically with specific frequencies, etc. to aid in the process.

The Valab solid core IC's that I ordered from Kevin last week arrived today. I have them hooked between my new VP 130 and the Marantz. Wow! what a difference. Dynamics, soundstage, nuance, all just took a BIG step forward. I can't thank you enough for bringing this seller to my attention. (BTW, Keving is a great ebayer. He was very curteous and prompt.) BTW, these are shielded IC's. It's helped lower the noise floor a bit further on the VP 130's tube.

I'm ordering another set tomorrow.

Fred,

Glad you are pleased. Yes, Kevin has generally been excellent in supplying cabling. I have a lot and had a lot of his power cords. Some Dave Schulte of the Upgrade Company has provided to some of the buyers of his upgraded machines. If you need speaker cables his are excellent for a "song" for price but heavy for shipping costs.

In any case, I have been trying to tell people on the forum that he has excellent products at a very reasonable price. Glad you took the plunge and gave them a try. By the way, the cables will sound better with time, but burn-in may take hundreds of hours without the usage of a "cable cooker" to reach optimum performance.

Hundred hours give or take, can't think of a better way to spend the time.

Rich,

I notice that the cables that Kevin sent have "Time Portal Audio" imprinted on the rubber sleeve. I paid $100 per pair shipping included. Being immediately impressed with both the quality of the cable and the sound they carry, I ordered another pair Friday night. The shipping was free for the solid core IC's. I mention this because I notice that you mentioned Time Portal as being a brand sold by The Upgrade Company. Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting them this week along with the 3 meter pair of 4x4 bi-wire speaker cables that I ordered from him on Thursday night. Although I had to pay $30 for the shipping on those. But, they weigh close to 10 lbs, so I guess that's fair enough. (Just decided to knock out all of my cabling needs in one shot and get it over with).

Hi Fred,

Those must be the same cables that Kevin was specially preparing for Dave with Dave's Time Portal Brand Name. That will also be the brand of Speakers that Dave is making that I will have and that may go to market. We just ordered some of Kevin's solid core silver RCA coax cables in 2m length (1 for me and 2 for Dave to stock) but we had Kevin make them with the standard instead of the thicker RCA connectors because there is not enough space to use wider connectors on the Onkyo 885.

You should be pleased with Kevin's speaker cables. They really are quite good. I will be ordering these as pairs (to biwire each speaker with 2 cables) for each of the 7 (14 cables total) speakers in the new house. These will be long runs probably between about 15 and 30 feet each. They will cost thousands, but I can not do better for the price.

Rich
